Guest psionicsin Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 I'm getting a "Device Not Supported" message when trying to download certain apps like YouTube.
Guest Lootes Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 I'm getting a "Device Not Supported" message when trying to download certain apps like YouTube. I just uninstalled and reinstalled YouTube and it was fine. Are you using one of my build.prop files or Trips?
Guest Valerio191 Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) It fixed the no service bug for me, but killed WiFi and mobile data! Did you wipe also your sd card before? I put the ril into the zip file of the rom before I installed the rom. But don´t forget to wipe all for 3 times. My wifi and 3g works fine and the bug is away. Only the lockscreen flatters if someone is calling me. Edit: Now I copied the file after install to system/lib and my wifi works also fine. I think you should make this procede together with an full wipe (sd inclusive). Edited September 14, 2011 by Valerio191
Guest Xeodium Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Moved back to Sense based ROM. GPS is too big of an issue to me and so is being able to recieve calls and sms. You've really done hell of a good job , Trip, but I'd like to be able to recieve calls and sms from anyone and have a working GPS, before I move back. I'm sure you'll fix everything. :)

Do you get all call also what are not on your list and can pick up the phone normally? TripN said not necessary to wipe Edited September 14, 2011 by tomS01

TripN said not necessary to wipe Yes I got a call from an unknown number and it works. Please wipe your sd and copy only miui rom to it. Then flash the rom and test it. So you can be sure that it really works. Try also to put the file into system/lib before flashing the rom (into the zip file). Edited September 14, 2011 by Valerio191

Ok I unzipped the rom and put rilhtc to rom and zip back and flash it = this way i good?

Guest Docmjldds Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 It looks like the WiFi Calling Force Close may be associated with the LCD Pixel Density setting. Check this out. I found it in the cm7 thread. It seemed relevant to your work so I thought I'd see if it actually is.... "I noticed the build.prop contains two settings for density (one being stock 240, and the other being 260). I'm not sure which one is being parsed, but it may differ for some people. I tried to set the density to 260 on Bulletproof because I went back to it due to an unexplained WiFi Calling crash on CM7 and force closes any time I tried to open it. After changing the Density to 260 on the Sense ROM the same force closes began again. I then set it back to 240 and it began working again." I have no idea ifnthis means anything for us or not. Coincidence I would think, but still appreciate input. Had to get some sleep, then catching up here toi se how if any progress was made, then back to the grind.
Guest tomS01 Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) nope no unzip only open the zip and copy it to the system/lib! First test result is good! THX for tip. Data isn't work yet! Something i must set up! Edited September 14, 2011 by tomS01
Guest Docmjldds Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 As I understand it, you shouldn't ever flash anything along with a ROM image. Flash the ROM, boot the phone, then reboot and flash any add-ons/modifications. Not true. Been around the block here long enough to know that some fixes require a rom.zip to be flashed, then immediately flash a mod. A good example is a mod requiring a different kernel. There have been plenty of roms I have been associated with helping out on that did exactly require one to immediately flash a mod, right after initial install of a rom, prior to first boot. Just an FYI....
Guest Docmjldds Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 So here's the mms.apk from the glacier build. It works a lot better and faster than the one from Nexus one. (No offense). Feel free to push it to /system/app or use root explorer and move it to that folder and make sure you change permissions to rw-r-r. Enjoy!!! No offense at all. I think I have tried around 5 different mms.apk files so far. Some are better than others. Been bogged down on the wifi calling issue. Thanks again....
Guest Docmjldds Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 I saw that too, but I never changed density from 240. Force closes disappeared as soon as I added the library files. Doc, I tried making all my changes to build.prop, ver 2 to version 6 prior to flashing, didn't make much difference. I agree, having three build.prop files open side by side was challenging to say the least. Much respect to Trip and all the devs that work with this code daily. Thanks...got up early here to try packing the files an flashing from the beginning all togehter, but seems that isn't the way either. I got tired of readjusting windows, so I changed to printing out one build.prop to physically hold in fron of me, then line by line going over comparisons. I basically concentrated on the gans references and any reference to tmous in oner and not the other. A lot of clientbase google tmous references adding was the main thrust here. When that Wifi welcome script ran on the first try of a bootup of one of my attempt's, I screamed out a Yeah!!! thinking I had it. My family here looked at me like I was such a Dork :P. Another thought I had it was adding a ganoptimizer.apk file. But I think you and I probably about covered all the bases here.
Guest Docmjldds Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) Wanted to see if wifi calling would make a difference with kernel so I installed Pyramid-Kernel-0.1.2-CM7-1.67GHz_r3.zip. After a couple of runs I was amazed at the Quadrant Score. Of course will have to see how bad this baby eats battery up along with temps, but still amazing results, for those that live and die for benchmarks. Not me...just posting for info only. Edit: wanted to show 4057 Quadrant score but having issues with uploading. Will post the screenie later after I figure out the issue Edited September 14, 2011 by Docmjldds
Guest eefurt Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Is there a solution on the problem with location through gsm? I really do like this rom, great work, I use GO SMS and it seems to be working fine, the only problem that remains is the location problem.
Guest zivotinjnja Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) I also tried Pyramid-Kernel-0.1.2-CM7-1.67GHz_r3 kernel and scored about 3200 on the quadrant :) I am now testing Pyramid-Kernel-0.1.2-CM7-1.56GHz. Edited September 14, 2011 by zivotinjnja

Guest gogicar Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 On 3G/H i can burn eggs :D ... anyone get overheating? :)

Where did you get this Kernel? I´ve a problem with blackscreens after I installed my 200 Apps! Hope another Kernel will fix this.
Guest TripNRaVeR Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 I got a kernel that goes to 2ghz had it on my phone for a couple of hours but i dont like to overclock a phone. Maximum would be 1,3 or 1,35 ghz for me that is fast enough.

Guest Docmjldds Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Flashing a kernel at the same time of a ROM is different than flashing something that modifies files in /system - like a theme... but hey, whatever works. :) I was only citing one example. There have been others which I won't bother naming off. Just making a blanket statement about not flashing a file right after a flash rom install is not necessarily true. As for themes, on the Sense Roms I routinely flash a theme immediately after an install, and the theme is 80Mb or so in size and is rather extensive. It works. Not saying this is the way to always go either. I guess we can agree to disagree and go on, to keep the clutter to a min.
