Bluetooth GPS units should work just fine ... used one years ago on an old htc phone that had no internal one ...

GPS Provider app from the market this recognises the bluetooth and GPS unit. Navigraph, not available from the market and allows turn by turn advice and as good as any in car navigation. Only shows the UK and maybe ireland. Mapdroyd, available from the market but only shows street names and current location. However map data avilable for nearly every country.
