Guest Rooster#1 Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 What are the advantages please ? Looking for a new ROM too... currently on Portuguese Spring, fancy some Gingerbread... don't need fancy add ons, just decent battery life and a working GPS !!! Recommendation please ? Thanks
Guest Manos Aristeidopoulos Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 http://android.modaco.com/topic/337798-gen1-to-gen2-tpt-upgrade/ Read the thread. Stock roms has good battery life and gps working so i cant see any reason for you to change a rom.
Guest t0mm13b Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) It has been since around February/March 2011, that a lot of newer Blades/Libra's are on the Gen2 layout and dev efforts switched to Gen2. Gen1 was the older blades that was bought around between October-December 2010. The newer ones now are on the Gen2 layout. The choice is simple, to stay up to date and have more ROMs, move to Gen2. :) Edited September 27, 2011 by t0mm13b

Guest t0mm13b Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) So GEN2 offers NO advantages apart from being more up to date ? Yes. Its the internals of the handset's factory settings that were rearranged, we're talking about low-level stuff, far lower level than recovery, partition sizes notably, that sits in the actual firmware and internal read only memory/bootloader code etc :) Edited September 27, 2011 by t0mm13b
Guest targetbsp Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 Yep, it pretty much only affects the roms you can run. If you want a gen 2 rom (ie Gingerbread) you run gen 2. If you don't you don't. :)
