It has been since around February/March 2011, that a lot of newer Blades/Libra's are on the Gen2 layout and dev efforts switched to Gen2.

Gen1 was the older blades that was bought around between October-December 2010.

The newer ones now are on the Gen2 layout.

The choice is simple, to stay up to date and have more ROMs, move to Gen2. :)

So GEN2 offers NO advantages apart from being more up to date ?

Yes.

Its the internals of the handset's factory settings that were rearranged, we're talking about low-level stuff, far lower level than recovery, partition sizes notably, that sits in the actual firmware and internal read only memory/bootloader code etc :)

Yep, it pretty much only affects the roms you can run. If you want a gen 2 rom (ie Gingerbread) you run gen 2. If you don't you don't. :)

Simple enough then... MANY thanks for taking the time to explain this, and not just link to another page ! wink.gif
