you need to execute the link on the atomic zipfile and then flash the resulting zip.. i tried it succesfully with 2.0 did not try 2.5 yet

Will flashing this install toggle 2g to both Atomic 2.0 and 2.5?

Guest arnookie

after checking these battery's out i found this, have a read http://android.modac...ptimus-2x-p990/

i would be careful they seem to be fake sad.gif

Thank you I see your point on that. I think I will just get an official spare battery instead for now.

My other choice is the duracell phone charger battery pack. Then I can charge on the go atleast.

Is there a standard battery icon for this?

I don't like the MODS and would just prefer the standard Android one???

Great ROM BTW!!!

That's the only thing I don't like too, maybe in the next release?

I am a complete newbie please help if possible thanks.

Can i do this first?

And this second?

Using this rom:

Also does the above rom automatically root the Orange Monte Carlo once installed?

Or do i need to do this:

(if so do i do it before or after flashing the rom?)

And what version of android is the rom i have chosen? eg: 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 etc.

Finally when do i attempt to unlock the phone?

Using this:

Before installing clockwork recovery, after installing clockwork recovery or before flashing the rom, after flashing the rom.

Thanks.

first unlock your phone, go straight to the guide & complete it

then install cloclwork recovery

then flash your rom, this rom here (atomic) is pre rooted with the ability to overclock if wanted

I'd suggest unlocking your phone first. And if you follow the instructions given you'll see at the end there is the option of installing clockwork (the first thing you posted), from the post-unlock folder. Read right through the instructions for unlocking your phone and you'll know what I'm talking about. At this point your phone will be unlocked and you'll have clockwork installed. You can then install your chosen custom rom, which I think will root your phone. I usually root before installing the rom anyhow, but I'm not sure it makes any difference. So: unlock, install clockwork, root, install rom.

One thing: Don't be surprised if you run into problems along the way, especially with regards to installing drivers. Many of us have spent ages trying to complete all the steps you're going to attempt. If you do have problems, read right through the threads you linked to, as there's lots of helpful advice. And don't worry too much - as frustrating as it is, there are people here to help and it's very, very unlikely you will have bricked your phone. Good luck.

Hello, I wish u all a happy new year.

I have this question.

I'm using CM7 nightlies ROM, with S2E, an app to free some memory and move the apps to SD, but I want to try the atomic rom. If I install the atomic , how can I manage the memory? Would I have problems?

And what has to be done, so I still have all my applications working again? Please tell me the right order. (e.g first nandroid backup, then move the apps to phone's memory, then titanium backup etc. etc). And what if the phone's memory runs low trying to move the applications? I'm very confused about this process

Thank you.

I tried a live wallpaper called snowfall and my battery ran out in standby while i was asleep within 4 hours. Please tillaz, v2.5 has a big battery management issue. I hope you fix this in v3.0. Please test very well with heavy animated live wallpapers. Thanks.

So I've tried 3 versions of the rom now, with my main focus on battery life (v1.6, v2.0, v2.5).

I have found that v1.6 has GREAT standby battery life, I can almost squeeze 2 days out of it if I don't use much on my phone, basically just idle or music. If I'm using data/GPS on it, it drains very quickly, pretty much 1% every 2 minutes. I can leave it overnight and it'll take off about 10%? This is with 3G/Wifi/background data on.

v2.0 and v2.5 I've found have very similar battery lives to each other, the idle battery life is terrible. It drains about 10% every 1.5 hrs, which makes it a bit difficult to last through the day, especially if you're using it. It uses a bit less battery when on data/GPS, but not significantly less, maybe 1% every 4 mins of Gmaps use?

Hopefully this feedback is helpful :)

Before I try this ROM, I was wondering if it is possible to answer a phone call using the button on the headset. I remember using a ROM where this did not work so I was just asking...

this is probably caused by the kernel change from 1.6, so in v3 i have reverted to the same version from 1.6 smile.gif

Tillaz, can't tell you how much I am looking forward to v3!

I have had a couple of crashes out of the browser with 2.5 that I don't recall with 1.6, also the google search widget seems to exhibit a bug which makes it unresponsive after a couple of uses.

Anyhow, keep up the excellent work.

Oh yeah... And have a Happy New Year! B)

adding this code to system / ect / init.qcom.post_boot.sh

#### START - Redirect cache partition to /data ####
mkdir /data/cache
chown system.cache /data/cache
chmod 770 /data/cache
mkdir /data/cache/recovery
chown system.cache /data/cache/recovery
chmod 770 /data/cache/recovery
mkdir /data/cache/lost+found
chown root.root /data/cache/lost+found
chmod 770 /data/cache/lost+found
umount /cache
rmdir /cache

It doesn't seem to do it for the non themed one you can get from the market. Either that or I haven't used it enough to make it crash.

I got my hands on an Orange Monte Carlo a few days back and stuck this on it. Everything seems to work great, but I can't wait until the new versions released as I've noticed that the battery doesn't seem to last as long as it did on the stock ROM. However, what's really good news is that you've made go launcher ex the default, as this is something I installed just the other day and have fell in love with! :D

As I'm relatively new to android could anyone tell me if it's possible to change all of the blue text and icons in the bar at the top? I'd like to have it look a little like CM7/stock white icons. Maybe this has something to do with the unreleased theme packs?

Any estimated date for the next version of this great ROM? Thanks.

AndroZip Pro is a file explorer, but personally I prefer ES File Explorer.

@ tillaz

Would you consider adding in Flash 11? It works perfectly for me, especially with the BBC iPlayer when set to low quality.

@tillaz: try like this:

#### START - Redirect cache partition to /data ####
mkdir /data/cache
chown system.cache /data/cache
chmod 770 /data/cache
mkdir /data/cache/recovery
chown system.cache /data/cache/recovery
chmod 770 /data/cache/recovery
mkdir /data/cache/lost+found
chown root.root /data/cache/lost+found
chmod 770 /data/cache/lost+found
rmdir /cache
ln -s /data/cache /cache
#### END - Redirect cache partition to /data ####[/xml]

Maybe it needs to have /cache mounted.
