Guest Smash41 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Is there any real benefit from upgrading from 3e to 4?
Guest JetKun Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) So, what are ATOMIC's selling points? Oh, and tillaz, is the T-Mobile Theme Chooser included in Atomic? Edited January 27, 2012 by JetKun
Guest H3ROS Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 @ Smash41 Battery life. @ JetKun ICS theme, can be overclocked, spoofed as HTC to allow extra games, less bloat than CM7. This ROM is closer to the stock ROM so it doesn't contain the T-Mobile theme chooser.
Guest Nozz Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) Is there any real benefit from upgrading from 3e to 4? @ Smash41 Battery life. Does anyone have any idea as to whether v4 has far better battery life than the v2.5 that I'm still running? I'm perfectly happy with everything as it is on my phone and don't want to wipe all my music, apps, browser favourites and other settings, plus go through partitioning, TPT-ing etc..., if there's not a noticeable gain on the battery life. Anyone tested and know for sure or can recall what happened through the various ROM upgrades? Edited January 27, 2012 by Nozz
Guest ninjagordy Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 hi tillaz, is it just me or is wifi tethering still not working. i cant get any of my pc's/laptops to connect but they happily connect to any other wifi network. cheers
Guest ronc2000 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) I use CWM4.0.1.4 but cannot install v4 from original orange rom. I did the 3 wipes, which went OK. Then install v4 from sd card. But it aborted, many times. It could reboot back to original orange rom and do the initial configuration, every time. The v4 files size is 104MB. Could the file be corrupted? Edited January 27, 2012 by ronc2000
Guest johnht2 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 WiFi Hotspot Can anyone confirm if this is/not enabled? I installed for a while but could not find setting so had to back out.
Guest muhahahaah Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 On my device wifi tethering works like a charm..

Installing Atomic from CWM4.0.1.4 does NOT work, you will need to upgrade to 4.0.1.5 the package in my tutorial has that version :)

Guest JThumar Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 I am using it and it works on V4 also Installing Atomic from CWM4.0.1.4 does NOT work, you will need to upgrade to 4.0.1.5 the package in my tutorial has that version :)
Guest ronc2000 Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 I downloaded the file again. It was identical to previous one so that should not be the problem But still it would not install (Install Aborted) with either 4.0.1.4 or 4.0.1.5 with 2 OMC (unlocked, no previous rom flashed). CM7 were installed OK.

It's possible you have to rearrange your TPT, I had to to be able to install Atomic V3 and I've kept it like this ever since. Go to the following thread and choose the second option: http://android.modaco.com/topic/348776-zte-skate-tpts/. And just follow the instructions there. @Smash41: Some of the menu's changed colour in v4. In v3.x you some were dark grey with black text and that's pretty hard to read. So now those menu's have a white background and black text. Also battery life is supposed to be improved, but don't expect miracles. And there is now an option to make a screenshot in the menu that opens when you press the power button for a bit. @Nozz: I haven't tested, if there is any difference, it's small. Battery life between those versions depends more on how you use the phone.

There are other reasons as to why you might want to adjust your partition tables but to install this ROM is not one of them.
Guest Pillhead Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 im new to all this stuff. Im runing the latest atomic rom but i havnt got the little arrows that indicate data transfer? do i need to do something to get them back ? cheers?

Guest tonybeau Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Is it possible that those successful had previous atomic (or some other custom) roms while I was installing over the original Orange rom? Not for me, I installed over Orange rom.
Guest Redstarr1 Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Is it possible that those successful had previous atomic (or some other custom) roms while I was installing over the original Orange rom? That shouldn't matter because you wipe your phone before installing a ROM. About the TPT's, I had to do that for Atomic v3.A or B. It's possible that it's not required any more. Was able to install all the subsequent versions with the custom TPT though, don't see why I should change it back to stock. Anyway I just offered that piece of advice because it's the only problem I ever had with installing Atomic.
Guest creedence Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Hi tillaz Unfortunately, my cell phone always switches off again. Because no one can help me back to CM7. Thank you
