Guest vctor Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 FInally figured out how to flash and install. Thanks for the update. The 2.2.2 was a little bit shaky for me with random reboots happening. Hopefully it will not happen on this new update. Thanks and more power!

Guest mrmrmrmr Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Hi, VPN didn't work at first. Then I realized that my Busybox version was changed. I reinstalled 1.19.2 and now VPN works fine. I have only one major problem with this rom: Google Voice Search doesn't work (FC). is there a workaround for that ? thx. for the great rom ,Steve !

I had to install the apk manually (finding it from another site)
Guest mrmrmrmr Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) Steve, I've compiled cifs module (for network shares) for the rom but it doesn't load because it asks for 2 features on the kernel: <4>[20460.381143] cifs: Unknown symbol slow_work_register_user<4>[20460.383240] cifs: Unknown symbol slow_work_enqueu Next time you compile the kernel, can you include these features ? I think only the following line will be enough: CONFIG_SLOW_WORK=y Edited October 28, 2011 by mrmrmrmr
Guest Spencershaun Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Well @ least its sorted Voice Search solved ! I had to install the apk manually (finding it from another site)
Guest Amalgation Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) First of all, I'm a big fan of Steve's work, but he shouldn't have to do it all on his own, so this is an attempt to help him optimize some parts of his awesome rom. To see if I could improve overall speed of the rom I've decompiled the framework-res.apk and optimized all the images inside. For testing purposes I compiled a few different versions for myself, but maybe someone else wants to try them as well. These run fine on my streak 5, but I can't assure they will all work if you've changed the default dpi setting. All files have optimized images and are smaller then original: 1. Complete framework-res.apk: Download 2. Framework-res.apk with hdpi images stripped out: Download 3. framework-res.apk with hdpi stripped out and mpdi images replaced: Download The last one is mainly an adaptation of the theme used for steve's 1.9.1 rom with some small tweaks of my own. To install this, just unzip the file to the root of your sdcard and run the included reframe.sh as root. (you can use adb shell or script manager from the market to do this.) The script creates a backup of the original framework-res.apk on your sdcard, so if you want to change back, rename the file framework-res.apk.orig to framework-res.apk and run the script again. Guest musclendabx Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Hey everyone... I've been struggling trying to figure out how to keep the stock 240 dpi setting on this build without getting any force closes for the dialer application. One hack that worked was to flash the internationalization update on XDA but it is giving me general instability. Not sure what else I can do. Can you please help a poor guy out... not sure what I am missing Thanks
Guest Papi-jj Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Just got a random reboot. Just by holding phone in my hand.
Guest streak5 Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Just got a random reboot. Just by holding phone in my hand. "Dude, you're holding it wrong!" Just kidding That was the excuse Apple gave for their antenna issue.

Guest macex Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 I have this in Fennec and Firefox non-beta too. I think the Robotto fonts are causing Firefox to display junk. I replaced the DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf in /system/fonts with the older non-Robotto fonts and Firefox displays the characters properly. This is most probably a firefox issue as the fonts display properly in most other apps. Is there any way to make Firefox use the older font while still retaining the robotto?
Guest jacko5 Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) Thank you for the link. I am trying to put amss.mbn and dsp1.mbn files. onto my dell streak and when i try i get as far as step 6 and then get in windows cmd no such command etc. I get flash boot on the phone with the white menu ok. Can ayone please help me to get the above 2 files onto my phone so i can proceed with the next step to install a custom rom ? Many thanks for any help given. 1.) Download the .zip, the amss.mbn and dsp1.mbn files. 2.) Move the .zip to the root of your Streak's SD card, and the amss.mbn and the dsp1.mbn to the folder in which you keep Fastboot. 3.) Turn off your Streak, and turn it back on while going into Fastboot mode by holding down the power button and the Camera button. 4.) Select "Fastboot", count to 10, and plug it in. 5.) Open up command prompt and type in cd C:/<insert location of Fastboot here> 6.) Type in fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn, and then fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn.
