Guest tremSr Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Repeat all, but DON'T FLASH dsp1 of point 13, try to flash amss ONLY.... I was also under the impression that it is best to flash the rom itself first......then the amss & dsp1.
Guest tremSr Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 this is how im doing it and still get flashing lights You took the dsp1 & amss from this build..not the older build?
Guest scruffdog1978 Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 You took the dsp1 & amss from this build..not the older build? yes this build
Guest maxicet Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I was also under the impression that it is best to flash the rom itself first......then the amss & dsp1. NO, DON'T FLASH DSP1 FILE, IT'S NOT NECESSARY
Guest tremSr Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 NO, DON'T FLASH DSP1 FILE, IT'S NOT NECESSARY Now to clarify. Is that coming up from the previous build? I ask because, why would it be posted on the first page for an updated build if it wasn't necessary? Thanks.
Guest maxicet Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Here's to you my 2.5 INTERNATIONAL version : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304727 for all those who have had problems with previous versions
Guest mellojoe Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 DJ_Steve and Fards, Thank you. Thank you very much. That is all. :)
Guest tremSr Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 (edited) Thanks, will try that now. Here goes nothin, one more time! Here's a play by play of what I have done. 1) Flashed Recovery that goes with Latest Rogers ROM via Fastboot. 2) Rebooted via Fastboot 3) Went into Recovery, flashed update.pkg (latest Rogers ROM) 4) Phone automatically reboots when completed. 5) Let phone complete boot sequence 6) Android Version 2.2.1 Baseband: GAUSB1A133932-US Kernel Ver: 2.6.32.9-perf OEM Ver: GAUSB1A133932 Build Num 14896 7) Tether works both USB & WiFi 8) Deleted update.pkg (just in case) off of SD Card 9) Turn off Phone 10) Dell Stock Recovery - phone reboots 11) Let phone complete boot sequence, Turn off. 12) Flashed Streakmod Recovery - latest beta v 0.3.2.8 13) Flashed amss and dsp1 from 1st page of this post 14) Rebooted via Fastboot 15) Booted into Streakmod Recovery 16) Flashed Gingerstreak 2.4 Beta 3 Rom 17) Wipe data/factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition, Wipe Dalvik cache 18) Reboot, Dell Factory Reset 19) Reboot phone, complete boot sequence. 20) Android version 2.3.3 Baseband Ver: GAUSB1A140514-US Kernel Ver: 2.6.35.7-perf OEM Version: SD GingerStreak 2.4 Build Number: GingerStreak 2.4 21) Checked WiFi/USB Tether option - available 22) Turned on WiFi Portable Hot-Spot - phone reboots in about 3 sec to bootanimation, Tether UI is gone. 23) Gave up again...Reboot phone, did nandroid restore. 24) Sighed.... It is also best to come from 350+ build.......before installing these ginger builds. I came from 354 build and had no problems whatsoever. Edited October 15, 2011 by tremSr
Guest Azurren Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Thanks, will try that now. Here goes nothin, one more time! Here's a play by play of what I have done. 1) Flashed Recovery that goes with Latest Rogers ROM via Fastboot. That maybe your problem :P I would try flashing the retail 360 pkg just to see if it'll help (In theory "retail" should be compatible with all streaks)
Guest watch_mania Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 (edited) Here's what I found. You asked for beta tester and here I am  1) I had 2 shutdown in 6 hours while browsing -- more like a screen timeout, but without dimming animation, in which you can't unlock the screen back on with power button. Will check whether it's really a shutdown next time it happens. Probably by making a phone call to the number. 1.a) Connected to wireless network is on at the first occasion, with browser open. Signal was ok. Was holding Streak while walking downstairs, glanced at screen on for 3-4 seconds and suddenly screen shuts down. 1.B) Connected to wireless network with low signal at second occastion -- kepts disconnected/reconnected. Holding with hand, slightly move hand downwards, and move it back up, and after 2 seconds screen shuts down. Could be caused by accelerometer driver bug? Will try (i) screen timeout to max 30 mins, or (ii) connect with HSDPA all the time, wifi off, to pinpoint the problem. 2) USSD not working. Always "Connection error or MMI not found". Probably unimplemented feature or wrong configuration on telephony. 3) Sending smses to shortcodes not working. Probably unimplemented feature or wrong configuration on telephony. Guest HorusUK Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 This is the process that works for me every time I have to do an update, and it never fails. I believe that's because it follows the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid! Boot in to fastbootflash amssflash dsp1Reboot in to recoveryflash GingerStreak.zip from recoveryReboot in to recoveryFactory resetReboot.Enjoy! Thanks Steve and Fards, this is one smooth ROM, the best 2.3 variant to date. I also appreciate how "skinny" it is. I'm bad enough at adding my own apps to bloat the device out! :-D
Guest kev24k Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Mmmmm too nervous. I think im going to get a galaxy prime or galaxy note when it comes out. I can live with 2.2 till then. Its been so stable anyways. Thanks :)

Coming from 360, flashed both amss and dsp1 with exact steps as yours, except step 17. I cannot reproduce the problem though, no matter the state of wireless activations before activating wifi hotspot. Turned on with wifi on, no problem. Turned on with wifi off, no problem. Turned on with bluetooth on, no problem. Do you have any other device attempting to connect immediately after you turn on the wifi hotspot? Are you running stock launcher?

I can live with 2.2 till then. Its been so stable anyways. Thanks :) Factors to consider by priority: 1) Will wider dimensions (by 4 mm) be a problem? 2) Do you like the design? If it has design like SGS2 I would like it. 3) Will you worry on AMOLED burns when never turning off the screen? 4) No notification LED. Those are 4 factors I'm battling with myselves right now. Price for second-hand stuff for non-mainstream devices could be interesting though :) Honestly the GingerStreak 2.4 ROM is stable enough that I would try to find workarounds for the problems rather than going back to Froyo B) UPDATE: I told the last sentences too early. There IS reason to go back to Froyo  Edited October 16, 2011 by watch_mania

Still on it. Havent updated the rom since 1.5.2 :x and forgot how/dont feel comfortable learning again on my only phone with 2 phones im interested in coming out soon. :( ill miss the streak. My first android phone.
Guest watch_mania Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Has anyone noticed DJ Steve provided and update the the zip file. Read first post. Yeah, reflashed with the newer ones 6 hours ago. Somehow I had a feeling that the previous ones posted on 12th is actually a newer Android build. They shared the same kernel though.
Guest watch_mania Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) The sound quality of music player is superb in this rom.... Really enjoyed using it... Stability plus speed and many more.... Louder, yes. But clarity has go down compared to 360 ROM. It's like the sound is dsp-ed with lower sampling rate. Seems like software solution is in place. FLAC support is partially broken -- using andLess. Some file couldn't be played at all. EDIT: I just tried Angry Birds and video performance is outstanding! Hopefully the audio problem is just a matter of testing/release priority. Edited October 16, 2011 by watch_mania

Guest tremSr Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) well tried the new 2.4 zip fastbooted the amss and dsp and Still get the flashing lights and 314-bb...i had no problems when i used the beta 2 ...if anyone can help or send a pm because i cannot figure it out I had this conversation with The Manii in the Streakdroid 2.3: You should update to 360 by installing the update.pkg then flash the 2.3 bb. This is true for all users of 2.3, while 360 isnt explicitly required beforehand at least 350+ should be installed prior to flashing the 2.3 files. This is most important for anyone on 305 SO....to me...either your flash isn't sticking, or you should go through the motions to at least upgrade to a 350+ baseband. Easiest way: Download Multi-Recovery Flasher from here: MultiRecoveryFlasher.v0.8.rar (http://www.multiupload.com/ZUKZKOM2BN). Use it to push the stock Dell 354 recovery (option 10) via fastboot mode. Download the 354.pkg from here: http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/Streak_354_15881_11.pkg Once downloaded, rename to update.pkg and flash that with your stock recovery. Let it boot up into it at least once. Then go back to Multi-Recovery Flasher and use it to push Streakmod recovery.... Flash the rom, and the amss & dsp1...remember to do factory resets along the way. I know it is a pain but I think this made my transition to Ginger build painless. Edited October 16, 2011 by tremSr
Guest zeeshan2341 Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Iam not able to connect to L2TP/IPSec PSK VPN . i ve had this problem with streakdroid 2.3 and streakdroid 2.4 . it was working fine in 1.9.1 . i tried the vpn fix for simple streak but it is not workng. is it because of the baseband.
