Im beginning to think that nobody is knowledgable enough to sort this here :(

Its not a lack of knowledge, the Skate Devs are hard at work porting ICS and other Cyanogen goodies, tilal is in the midst of revision for exams...I think its just not as big a deal for most users, the excitement of flashing ever better roms is a bigger draw I'm afraid.

And my Torch app is waiting for being debugged on real device. Yesterday visited Orange bastards. My phone still in service. 7 days left for warranty repair expiration. Then I can get money back o replacement. Hoping that they will have Skate on stock. This is driving me crazy. I am mad stuck here with some new things to be built into Skatie. New kernel with USB Host, Torch app, 2.3.7 AOSP... Aaaaargh!!!

WAU!!! This is freaking incredible! Couple of minutes after posting my previous post I received the SMS that my Skate is ready for pick-up

Just debugged my Torch app and I am sad to report that I was able to achieve just the same behaviour as LedFlash.

The problem is that it is necessary to wait for callback after activating flash to activate it again.

There is a delay for the callback to occur since camera needs time to complete the "take picture" operation and the delay is about 1 second.

The result is LED flashing in 1 second interval.

I have a feeling there is really no way to make it work. Also checked the supported modes of flash and there are just

two of them: ON and OFF. TORCH mode is missing completely...

Check this out:

It says that the app will soon support zte skate. That would be great :D

Is there not a way to change how the camera works , so you can take a burst of 'photos' with flash on, and change the timing in-between to as fast as it needs to be so the human eye can only see it as the led 'on' to make the 'callback' from the hardware quicker or is that not as easy as it sounds?

Unfortunately the hardware won't let you do it faster...

Then we may be at a dead end :(

it will be possible but nobody here clever enough to sort it

Thats kind off an insult, im sure there are people smart enough to sort this it just that it requires more efort then result.

We should be gratefull there is so mutch development for such cheap phone!

The led light is more then enough for me, it helped me find my keyhole :P :D

not meant as an insult just as a fact.

or someone would have done it by now

It seems the fact is more that the hardware doesn't support it. Or that its just not worth the effort to the guys who are clever enough to do it. Your attitude certainly isn't going to encourage anyone.

its a bit like the 800x480 video recording situation, you would expect it to work but it don't blink.gif

you need to remember that not everything is going to be possible, its like saying we haven't got 1080p 3D video recording because no one is cleaver enough lol,

1080p video recording is a bit of a bad comparrison.

As you cant get 1080p out of something that isnt physically possible.

The led physically works so it just needs to be on permanent so a command to tell it to be on permanent is what it will need.

Im sure someone will eventually be able to crack it but its just a case of finding someone with the knowledge.

Sorry if you all get offended by my comment maybe i should have put .....

"it will be possible but nobody has the knowledge to re-write the command"

To be honest, I think its time we dropped the whole thread.

No disrespect but as stated earlier ics is a priority atm and a flashlight just isn't going to be available.

All the devs here are doing a first class job with the hardware we've got.

That's my 2p worth.

5mp camera inside the skate is 2592x1944

1080p video is 1920 x1080... so its not physically impossible as you can see, it would just be very very very choppy because of the lack of power to encode/decode the video

where as the 3d part is not physically possible (two cameras are needed) ...
