I went over to XDA to look at PowerRom Lite... couldn't get past the ludicrous file download service used.

Is it even working?

edit: never mind, only the latest version seems to be pointing to available files... nope, the first file is just hard to locate / takes ages to download. fail rolleyes.gif

Cheers

OK, installed power ROM light and it's fast, stable and great battery life. This will do fine until Stephen gets ICS up and running.

Thanks for the pointer, much appreciated.

Hey DJ Steve!

I've been a big fan of your ROM's since I got my Dell Streak 18months ago. I've been following you over on XDA but I notice you prefer this place.

I've been running 2.4.4 for two days now and I like it. It seems pretty smooth and stable and I do love the CRT animation =D)

I've noticed a few bugs - some of which have already been mentioned and others not; so I thought I'd mention them and see if anyone can help me iron them out.

Known bugs:

Sleep of Death - WiFi, 3G and even network connectivity are unresponsive after waking the phone. [i've installed KeepWiFi and this seems to solve that, although it isn't a friend to my battery life but hey-ho].

Problems ending calls - the on screen end-call button is seems unresponsive. [i think it works but its just laggy. However, I'm not entirely sure because the other caller hangs up pretty quickly anyway but I can imagine this being a problem when I get a call from a land line.]

Market telling me apps I've used previously are now incompatible. [it's been stated above that leaving the Streak at 160 density avoids this problem but I've found that caused more problem and the Market actually has less 'incompatibilties' if I adjust density to 140.]

New Bugs:

I'm not sure 'bugs' is the right word because its not problems with the ROM as such, I've just noticed that certain apps are behaving strangely now.

Market - is really slow to respond. A minor issue.

Firefox/Firefox Beta - I only use this because I can sync bookmarks with my PC. However, now it loads with a Windings/Gibberish text language that I can't change and obviously can't read - so I can't even set up sync.

Friendcaster - the only useable Facebook App on Android now causes my phone to freeze everytime I load it and is best fixed by pulling the batery.

Thats all I've noticed so far, everything else seems great but the problems with Firefox and Friendcaster make me wanna downgrade again =D(  Any help/suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Dan

EDIT: Switching back to 160 density seems to have fixed the problems with friendcaster and firefox. So I guess I just have keep switching densities to match the app I want to download. Bit of an inconvenience but I'm sure it'll be ironed out eventually.

Already got mine working ;)

how do you use it to make it work ?

mine was working with Froyo (2.2), but with Gingerbread I lost it. It's not getting stable.

Which software you use it with ? Any special settings/tweaks that you applied ?

Hi,

I didn't understand how this works. The thread subject says it is a Tasker/Locale plugin. Then why we have to resign the ROM ?

Shall we also install Tasker for this to work ?

The tasker / locale plugin is an extra. The mod is packaged with an decent app to manage 2g/3g for you :)

It needs to be resigned because it patches several system apps (phone.apk etc.)

how do you use it to make it work ?

Well it is a pain in the ass.. Keeps disconnecting <_<

Tasker re-opens the app on disconnect and I've edited the bluetooth keys so that it auto-pairs (Instead of prompting everytime). Although I don't know if I'm going to continue using it

what is the correct setting to keep it auto pair instead of prompting ?

Using a root explorer navigate to:

/data/misc/bluetoothd/[device id]/linkkeys

Then change your liveviews ID to something like this:

6C:23:B9:9B:4A:85 5AF503E766858EA7916D46C16DD31A34 0 4

You only have to change the last two numbers to an zero, space, four. With the help of tasker this should make it at least useable

Azurren do you know how to delete the default Swype on rooted 2.2.2 so I can install the beta?

Use any root explorer app (such as ES file explorer), enable the root option and give su permissions

Then navigate to /system/app and delete the desired apk file. reboot and you should be good to go :)

FWIW, I've installed Gkernel and am having NO stability issues. No wifi problems. No reboots. Try it out

Also check-out GXKernel: (GKernel with overclocking)

Overall Smoothness and battery life is unreal using GKernal (Although without any form of overclock game performance suffers)

Will try GXKernal later this week :)

Hi,

Does GXKernel have the VPN, CIFS modules ready ?

Also, I'd like to ask, has anyone tried GTA3 on Streak ? (with or without GXKernel)

which version should I try ? SGS 2 ?

Been running GXKernel for a few days now. No problems. Smooth. OC'd to 1152 and no reboots. Pocket Legends and Sentinel 3 are smooth as ever. Love it!

Hey all

What's the fix for the "end" button not working on the phone app? I can't end calls. Problem just started happening, oddly enough. I ran a few searches and can't find the fix.

Thanks for your understanding of me being an idiot. ;-)

Cycle the screen off and on again. Put it back to your ear and bring it away again. That works for me.

Our you can set the "power button" to end phone calls.

Well I flashed this when it was first released but got rid after about 2 weeks as I was sick of all the bugs with the wifi and phone signal coming and going, the crashes that occured everytime I shut down QQ player and a few other annoyances and ran the stock rom. Thought I'd give it a go again this morning and followed Azurrens install method in the hope it would perform better but it's even worse than last time. I've had about 5 or 6 times since it installed at 1pm today where it's turned off without me knowing, random crashes in apps rebooting the phone and generally being slow and unresponsive. Think I'll be making a return to the stock 2.2.2 when I get home from work tonight!

I've got it and it's slower on this than on the stock rom! Unplayable on both however.

I feel your pain....I had felt that way for a long time....tried everything....until.

1: Flashed Olleh Rom...factory reset, first boot etc

2: Flashed DSC 0.6 over Olleh.....factory reset

3: Flashed DSC v0.63b update....factory reset

4: Flashed GX 1 kernell over that.....factory reset

5: Flashed GX 1.0.3.1 kernell over that....reboot

6. Flashed GX 1.0.3.5 kernell over that....reboot

All in that order...they are incremental updates, all can be found on XDA, with full explaination, the GX kernell is the killer, it smooths everything out and speeds it up.

I am running my streak with Set CPU at min 499 and max 1190400 Ondemand

Auto killer mem optomiser....Aggressive

CF Bench score of 5144, 1844,3164

Plays all my games effortlessly and runs the other apps very well, the best experience that I have had on the streak 5.

Rudeboy which version of Olleh 4.05 or 4.06? If 4.06 where did you get a copy, thought it was pulled after some issues with super bricking. Tried what was offered on XDA by DSC folks but all three versions where 4.05.
