Guest Gary Crutcher Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 OK...smali / baksmali v1.3.2 has been released and it is working for OXAKPA (v4.0.3). Not sure how long it will take me to add in extended power menu or quickpanel as we are in the middle of midterm exams and I have a lot of grading to do. Will try to release something this weekend. Stay tuned.

Guest Gary Crutcher Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 May have to wait for mods to ICS 4.0.3 as apktool.jar has same problems as baksmali/smali had (dex header version number issue). May release a deodexed version without mods for now....after testing. Will be XXLP1.
Guest Gary Crutcher Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Ok...XXLP2 has been released...back to square one. *sigh*
Guest Gary Crutcher Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Will post a deodexed XXLP2 (ICS v4.0.3) ROM tomorrow morning. Too tired right now to do it and my Internet is very slow right now. Seems to be a problem lately in Bangkok.
Guest Lancez Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 thanks gary for the ICS, how do you feel about this LP2? am not too crazy about ICS, yet. really happy with your DXKL3, no problems whatsoever. but i think i'll give it a try and see how things are. since i bought galaxy nexus a few weeks ago, i think ICS isn't that great compared to latest GB. but it's just me :P P.S. for anyone who wants to try it, wipe both dalvik and cache then a factory reset, before you start flashing, this might help you to get rid of bootloop.

Well...ICS (v4.0.3) has a nice look and feel to it. With the stock kernel it seems pretty fast although after 1st boot it is a little laggy then seems to overcome this. I do like the new menu structure. Some of the user apps show a little different menu under ICS than Gingerbread. For example, the Allow/Deny buttons are switched (left/right right/left) but work as designed. Had some issues with the Market constantly timing out, but may be due to the modem. Quandrant score was the same as KL3 with Siyah kernel and so was the Antutu score. I look forward to Siyah making an ICS kernel as it should be very fast. All the user apps I tried worked, but I did not like the way Titanium backup/restore worked. After restoring an app, you get a prompt to install it - for every single app you restorel - I have 108 user apps. What a pain in the ass!!! Overall, I do like it but will not use as a daily ROM until I can mod it - need to wait for apktool.jar to be fixed. I did look at the source code for android.policy.jar (for extended power menu) and found a lot of changes. It will take awhile to mod this probably. When apktool.jar is fixed I will start looking into adding the extended power men and the scrollable quick menu (although SystemUI.apk has been changed quite a bit).
Guest Lancez Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 installed about an hour ago, everything seems working fine here. did factory reset before installation and didn't install twice tho. some of the market apps don't work with ICS, but it is not your rom's problem. now back to my beloved DXKL3 now. thank you again :)
Guest kayceejayh Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Okay, I installed it.. Had issues with the Samsung Keyboard FC'ing, I had more progress switching to Swype. Managed to get Titanium Backup to notice my licence file (put a copy on both the int and ext sd), but I couldn't get any of my apps to restore. It just froze, I tried switching the location that it restores to, but it just didn't work. The ROM itself seemed pretty good, better than I was expecting, but I can't really run it as a daily until I can get all my apps installed (and I'm not doing them manually!) Top work so far Gary! K

K Titanium restore works okay as long as you do not install the PRO license. Restored a few programs to test out ICS and had no problems. Not sure what the problem is with the Titanium license file.
Guest stevenz Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) Scuttlebutt over at XDA is that LP2 is actually pretty quick & stable versus the "slightly dodgy" KPx releases. May have to give it a blast when they fix Titanium. ICS doesn't really offer any improved functionality for me and it's such a massive UI change that I'm not sure I'd bother using it as I'm pretty happy with the standard system. At this stage I just want the battery to last longer, other than that, the KL3 release is doing me very nicely. That doesn't mean I won't be trying ICS now and then of course ;) FWIW I've got the KPA modem on mine (I tried one of the ICS hacks then reverted and didn't reflash the KI3 modem I usually use) - surprisingly it seems to be pretty good. Have you tried using Siyah's kernels to improve battery life? Siyah Kernel
Guest skoda60 Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 Titanium restore works okay as long as you do not install the PRO license. Restored a few programs to test out ICS and had no problems. Not sure what the problem is with the Titanium license file. I tested xxlp1 and lp2 stock rom, both still have problems on program competivty problem. I tried titanium pro and ultimate backup pro, very slow. For restoring program you can used cwm backup set just ticked only data for restoring This worked well on gingerbread but not on ICS. This ROM still not for daily used maybe waited for further few release.

Guest skoda60 Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Tested stock XILA2(PDA), XXKL1(Modem), OXAKL1(CSC) . Siyah 2.6.7 kernel. Worked swiftly with new style lock screen. Very satisfied with this ROM.
Guest skoda60 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) A bit out topic here but someone maybe interested. I downloaded a deodex xila2 by remorema and applied Galaxy blue V34 and it was beautiful. Edited January 18, 2012 by skoda60
Guest Lancez Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 once again, thanks Gary for another release. i haven't got chance to test out all ICS roms recently, been playing with Galaxy Nexus for the past couple of weeks. but SGS II is still my daily toy because i'm really satisfied with your DXKL3 :D anyway, i'll try to install your LP6 and report back, thank you Gary.

Thanks Lance. The keyboard problem in XXLP2 was because of missing fonts. It has been fixed in this version - not by Samsung, but by me. (Thanks to [email protected] for the how-to).
Guest HOOLIGAN Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Another great Rom. Anyone find the Wifi strength symbol works then doesnt work?.
Guest Lew247 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 CRT off doesn't work on XLP6-Wipe.zip
Guest Gary Crutcher Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 CRT off doesn't work on XLP6-Wipe.zip Try the attached CWM zip file - it replaces the framework-res.apk. Let me know so I can post it in the main thread. XXLP6-CRTOff.zip
Guest stevenz Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Try the attached CWM zip file - it replaces the framework-res.apk. Let me know so I can post it in the main thread. XXLP6-CRTOff.zip Works fine here, but it seems to have put the "Settings" menu into tablet mode, menu options are auto-expanded to the left of the menu making things hard to read. I'm getting a virtually permanent "fuel_alerted" kernel wakelock which is preventing the phone going into deep-sleep, something to do with the state-of-charge system for the battery getting confused. I've tried wiping battery-stats and am giving the phone a really good charge to see if it sorts itself out. Other than that, LP6 seems to work perfectly, I've yet to have it do anything strange, particularly after I've frozen the majority of Samsungs bloatware. Edited January 30, 2012 by stevenz

I'm working on an update with the lidroid quickpanel options. Will look into the problem.
Guest stevenz Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) FWIW resetting the battery stats, pulling the battery for a couple of minutes, then giving it a full charge from AC has fixed the fuel_alerted wakelock issue. I'm now getting something causing a GPS wakelock, but that's almost certainly some application I've installed rather than an issue with the firmware as there was no sign of it previously, after killing all running apps it's now sleeping correctly, so I'll experiment and see what's causing it. Edit: GPS doesn't work, there's a flashable fix over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21806078&postcount=1320 It's just a single replacement library file and it seems to fix it nicely. Thanks Gary. Edited January 30, 2012 by stevenz
