Guest roswell_blake Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Has anyone been able to successfully change the carrier name on the notification bar? I tried the Carrier Name app to change it with no success. I also went the long route and edited the strings.xml file in the Framework.apk. I know it's not that important of a feature but I hope someone figures out how to do it!
Guest Brembo109 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I got epic battery life using this rom. Now 16 hours unplugged... 30 streaming with spotify over 3G...5 calls.. Some searches...some engadget reading ...and now modaco browsing ...all in all average use... Pushing 2 gmail and an exchange account.tapatalk notifications and g+ And still on 70% amazing... Aspi Hey Aspergillus, are you using the UV-Kernel or a battery-saver app like juicedefender? Which baseband are you using? I mean my battery live is great too, from 100 to 30% in 17 h with often usage, but 30% left in 16h is just a dream :-D
Guest Chad Cluver Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 just wondering, can everyone send texts or is it just me not being able to send texts? i haven't a clue why i can't send texts but i tried the built-in one and stuff like handscent sms and none of them work also, fwiw, i also have the oc/uv not stable problem (which was stable in ir8) but i don't seem to have the nfc problem - at least some nfc's work for me. I'm having the EXACT same issue this morning. Yesterday I had no issues with texting. This morning, I can't send any. I can receive them just fine. I can make and receive calls, and data works fine too.... What the hell?
Guest PaulOBrien Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Which kernel? SMS fine here... P
Guest Chad Cluver Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) Which kernel? SMS fine here... P I'm using 4.0.2 ultimate from here: http://rootzwiki.com...iopsv010jan-17/ and have been for a few days. And SMS was working fine right up until this morning. Now, I just can't send them. It fails every time, to any contact I choose. And I've tried rebooting too. EDIT: Paul nevermind, I believe this may be something I did yesterday. I was in the *#*#4636#*#* menu, and likely updated my SMSC number to a blank one by accident. I've searched around and that would cause just the problem I'm having, and since I was in that service menu yesterday, it is quite likely I bumped the update button while in there and didn't realize it. I am always having a case of "fat finges" so it wouldn't surprise me. Sorry to waste your time. Edited January 26, 2012 by Chad Cluver

But CPU tuner allows a lot of stuff.. You can switch on/off pretty much everything (Wifi, 3G etc.) or Change CPU Frequency and governor depending on the state of the phone (battery, screen ect) This app saves a lot of battery for me.. Because i'm in areas where there is a lot of Change between 3G and 2G wich is consuming battery like hell.. With CPU Tuner it stays on 2G as long as I dont use the phone. (because I configured it to behave like this) Greez Aspi Edited January 26, 2012 by Aspergillus

Guest Sk1mble Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) Good morning everyone! I should be getting my Nexus tomorrow and I'm preparing to do root it and install the MoDaCo custom ROM as I will have limited time before having to go out. I baked a copy of the custom ROM from the kitchen with mostly default options but now I'm a little worried about the Baseband options. Will the default baseband work with all UK networks, or do I need to install multiple baseband images? I am with H3G (Three) in the UK. I would appreciate your assistance as this is my first time playing with an Android phone - I have an Advent Vega which I have tweaked heavily but until now I've been using stock Nokia phones. While I'm writing, what's the easiest way to install CWM to get this mod installed? I was thinking about just installing the Superboot root app from the other thread, but from another user's post it seems that I don't actually need to root the phone to install this ROM. But I think I do need root access to install CWM? Thanks very much! Edited January 27, 2012 by Sk1mble
Guest DA01 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Just flashed a fresh bake and Trackball Alert Pro is working great? P Hi Paul, I am not quite sure if I have done something wrong when I install IR10 GSM I have used CWM to install the core and then the option pack. The phone has already stay in the animation screen for ~ 1 hr already. Please provide me with a step by step instructions on how to solve the challenge as I am quite new in using Andriod phone. Thx.

I would prefer the XXKK6 Baseband for your ROM because it is the best baseband in my opinion, with great batterielife and connectionperformance. 2. To install a ROM with CWM you have to root your phone with the Superboot Skript from the other threat. That's almost the easiest way of rooting :-). Edited January 27, 2012 by Brembo109

Hello I baked a rom in the kitchen tonight, and selected to include google books. But I live in Switzzerland and I can't oinstall it. On the market it doesn't show on the phone, and on the webmarket on my pc, it shows as impossible to install on my phone because of my ocuntry. Is it possble todo something like a manual install? Thanks Nicolas

Guest Hap Hazard Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) How long is the initial boot expected to take? I am installing the first custom MCR this Galaxy Nexus has tasted and it's closing in on 20 minutes. It is stuck on the colourful boot animation. Update: I popped the battery after 40 minutes, powered it back on and it's stuck in the animation again. Will try installing the baked ROM again before going back (hopefully) to my backup stock ROM. Update2: The second install resulted in the same issue. I am attempting a restoration via Clockwork Recovery. Update3: The restoration was a complete success. Back to stock. Is there a common cause for my issue? Is there set of options from the kitchen that don't play well together? Should I just re-bake and try again? Edited February 1, 2012 by Hap Hazard
