Guest twonk1515 Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Hi all, I was wondering what people think is the best rom to put on my vega, but let me explain a couple of things so please bear with me. My niece who's sixteen will be getting my vega for Christmas which she will love I'm sure. She will use all the features ie camera, USB for films, maybe hdmi out and of course downloading lots of apps. So I was wondering which rom is the best. I've used Paul's r8 rom because I'm was too dim to install vegacomb or Corvus 5 until today (which I got vegacomb installed). I need it to be as stable as possible but with as many features as possible also. I would like the rom to have wow factor buts she's also quite shy and will not tell me straight away if things go wrong with it. I know that maybe its a simple answer but I won't have time to trial them so any expert or general user advice would be great cheers.
Guest duvee Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 my answer would be corvus.. it is a really good rom and you can download adw ex as launcher (makes it more "pretty" for the girl with the animations).. it is fast, it is stable, lots of memory (compaired to vegacomb, sow many apps possible) and just 99% bug-free (don't know the 1% tho' haha)

Guest twonk1515 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Many thanks for the replies I think I'll try corvus and see how she gets on with it. Ps I'm I right in thinking that the vega has only 512mb internal storage and when that's full any apps will go on the sd card automatically? Thanks again
Guest duvee Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 not all the apps can work on/go to sd.. sow then you have to puzzle i think haha but with corvus, the space is much larger then with vegacomb :)
Guest newbe5 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 My 2 year old uses VegaComb every day and it's rock solid stable for both her and me, requires only very infrequent reboots to sort the odd problem. She finds it easier to navigate than 2.x as the menus are much bolder and suited for the tablet screen (eg. YouTube). If you install Link2SD on VegaComb you can move any app very easily to the SD card to save as much space as you like (you will need to have created an ext partition in ClockworkMod first, this is easy but wipes the SD card), if you made your ext partition 512mb then thats TONS of space for apps etc. Hope she likes it! newbe5

I really like vegacomb but the only browser that i can get to work with youtube is dolphin and that doesnt always work. Is the solution inks2sd then? Are there any step by step instructions out there (being a klutz!) Simon
Guest newbe5 Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 Link2SD is pretty easy, make an ext partition yourself (by formatting the SDCard in CWM) and give it a shot! I don't use the stock browser in VegaComb I must confess, it's a memory hogging beast. I use Opera Mobile (NOT Mini, use Mobile) and it's the best browser I have found. My daughter uses the Honeycomb YouTube App to watch videos rather than the website (why would you use the website instead of the app?). Hope that helps! newbe5
Guest twonk1515 Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Sod it, I'm going to try and have a good play with both roms before Xmas. Anyway I'm sending over a drink to the Team because of all the hard work that must of gone into the development of the roms.

I tried it but after clicking reboot nothing happens and it won't boot up either with a long or short press. I guess I have to go back to square one now do I? Simon
