Guest Zehlek Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Thank you sir. Here is a screenshot of the keyboard after flashing gappsv5. Also - I don't use gtalk much but I don't have any issues with it when I was just fooling around with it. That is the gtalk from the same gappsv5 package. Where did you find the gapps zip for ICS?
Guest perhac89 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 reporting! * facebook sync in accounts doesn't work * reboot when tapping on Google Apps in settings I found that pressing the settings button and clicking "Manage Apps" works to get to the apps
Guest ddub06 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Where did you find the gapps zip for ICS? I found it a few days ago on the Samsung Captivate ICS Beta thread over on XDA. Stumbled upon it when I was trying to see if I could find a solution to the Market issues we were having in the previous alphas from Trip. Link for the download is below from my first post. I am not having issues with the keyboard after I flashed the gappsv5.zip Googles app package from the Samsung Captivate ICS beta build. I did notice before I flashed that package that the suggested words were only names in my contacts so it seems like the dictionary might be missing. But like I said - I flashed this gapps package on top of Trip's ROM and the keyboard is money now. I haven't run into any bugs or negative effects after I flashed. *Disclaimer - flash at your own risk etc etc* File is here: http://www.multiupload.com/YCL58X7EDT EDIT: Found the first bug using the gapps5 package. The gallery wasn't working but I found that the gallery apk in Trips' ROM is Gallery2.apk and the Captivate gappsv5 gallery apk was GoogleGallery.apk. To resolve I just deleted GoogleGallery.apk from /system/app that was installed when I flashed gappsv5 - ripped the original Gallery2.apk from Trips' Alpha 6 zip and pushed to system/app/ then Installed with Root Explorer and I was good to go again.

Flashing this killed Google....can't get into Gmail and it killed my sync with contacts and stuff. I had to reflash editing the updater-script so it doesn't format my data....I manually added the keyboard and quicksearchbar.....It also removed calendar.....added another version that doesn't show up.....All is well now

Guest nastynick6 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Been using this ROM for a few hours now and it really is THE BEST version of Android Google has ever made, lol Can't wait for a full stable ROM from Trip! I just wanted to let Trip know I also get soft reboots when I go into manage apps and the Superuser FC on me and not allowing some root apps to work correctly. Also can't wait till they get Flash going so we can wach some youtube and what not lol Of course all the usual things not working as well, camera bluetooth etc, but its getting close, I can feel it!
Guest ronaldramsayii Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Weird I didn't have any of those problems. Not sure why I had these issues then, but it's fixed now. That keyboard fix made it much much better. Having the quicksearchbar at the top fills the screen....looks better

It's going to be off the chain! Bump the Galaxy Nexus.....cept the NFC feature, but gosh I love my Sensation all over again, and everything isn't even working yet. I wanna see the ZSL on the Camera, whenever it gets fixed. Hopefully we can get that feature... Vote 5-stars if you love this build so far! Let's support Trip and his work folks! Guest Zeemclaren Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Here are my findings so far : Moving applications to SD and checking the storage under the settings reboots the phone.App drawer a bit laggyAdding Widgets makes the phone stuck then reboots.Phone is boiling hot after usage - maybe due to the GPU no being used. Will update more finding if any. But, this is a huge leap forward compared to S004.
Guest frcfed Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 My phone isn't hot at all, infact it runs noticably cooler.

Guest Shagman68 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 lol, got my 1st warning ever at xda decraponators for dissing CM 7.1 still being as an alpha and talking about their cm9. funny. Over the years it seems they are becoming less social over there and more about absolute control. Remind you of any big electronics company with an apple associated with it. Anyway, A6 is running good. I can't seem to find the settings for Text -to-Speech anywhere. Did I miss it, or is it one of the items that were removed for stability?
Guest TgR Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Yes !!! I flashed Alpha 6 then flashed the ICS Gapps right after (without leaving CWM), this way I got most of my stuff working Talk (Finally !) , WhatsApp Gallery, the good keyboard with voice recognition... Great job Trip, really, looking forward to see your magic

Guest ddub06 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Talk??? as in google Talk? Google Talk works if you flash this ICS gapps zip. It also resolves the keyboard underlining every word as misspelled and also has the voice recognition. In addition it has the official ICS Google Searchbar looks extremely sharp and fills out the homescreen. ddub06, on 10 December 2011 - 11:34 AM, said: I am not having issues with the keyboard after I flashed the gappsv5.zip Googles app package from the Samsung Captivate ICS beta build. Guest Shagman68 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Too bad the desktop cannot be extended up 1 more row to make use of that space, because I really hate that Google search bar. But I hate the space being empty more than the bar, so there it is for now.
Guest Chilled26 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 YES!! thanks man flashing that also fixed my broken wifi and Gtalk works! I can also confirm this.:) Sent from my TripNiCE Pyramid using Tapatalk
Guest luismariscal Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 I was able to recieve mms. the pic was 106k. I also flashed the icsgapps and fixed gtalk etc.
Guest ManCityFC Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Clearly you are a noob..You do NOT do that.Trip was banned from XDA. It is NOT up to you to go put it all over the net. Trip can do that himself if he wanted to. You are not the newspaper and I am not your father but we have rules and a kinda unsaid code here in the Android community. You do NOT and I repeat NOT post a devs work anywhere without talking to him FIRST. I don't care if he answers or not or his inbox is full. You knowingly did this and even though we support open source that doesn't mean YOU have the right to put his work anywhere. I have been a staple with XDA and CM since 2008. I empathize and support and donate to any dev whose ROM I use. It's like coming to my house and I tell you "sure you can use my bathroom" and you go share my toilet paper with the neighbors. You think you're sharing when indeed you took my TP and gave it to the whole hood and that's so not cool. But maybe you didn't understand and If you didn't know then I am just giving you friendly advice. You think maybe I didn't know an unwritten rule, yes, you might be right, you see, as the rule is unwritten, how could I know? It's a bit pathetic frankly. You and others clearly have a different view of what open source actually means. If Google made people take down links to their published source code you would be spitting bullets. Either way, the thread is locked and the case is closed. Much to my and many others bemusement no doubt.

Anyway, A6 is running good. I can't seem to find the settings for Text -to-Speech anywhere. Did I miss it, or is it one of the items that were removed for stability? Well, a few group of people do charity work for a huge community. They spend alot of free time, just like in here, to make sure our phones don't fall behind. They shouldn't have to take "dissing", cause it's all pretty simple: If you aren't pleased with the product and progress you should do the work yourself. That isn't to say that it should not be allowed to discuss matters in appropriate threads, but since you yourself use the word "dissing" i'm pretty sure they shouldn't have to take what you said. Anyways, on topic: Excellent alpha release, it was alot better then expected. Thanks for the hard work, can't wait for a stable version. Thanks. Edited December 10, 2011 by SveinBeinzon
