Owners of the Asus Transformer Prime have been beset with various issues since release - wifi, graphics and GPS lock issues to name a few. Asus seem to be having a blitz on these issues by releasing both OTA and downloadable fixes. Some Prime owners are reporting that they have received an OTA update from Asus that fixes the GPS locking issue they have been experiencing. The update is also available from the AsusTeK site. Many posters over on the xda-developers forums are now getting much better GPS locks than before the update but there are still some users with issues after the update. This is replicated across the tech sites with Engadget reporting success with their update, while Android Police still have no luck with GPS.

More after the break...

One word of warning for those amongst you who have rooted the Prime, the update will unroot your device. You will need to run Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper before you let the update install if you want to keep the device rooted.

Asus have some more good news for UK Prime owners, firstly that the don't believe any of their UK shipments suffer from the known wifi issue, and secondly, they are offering a 6 month extension to UK Prime warranties. The warranty extension is not automatic so you will need to contact Asus directly.

Asus UK said:

Any customers who wish to keep their unit will be offered an extension to the standard ASUS warranty from 12 to 18 months (for any retailers who offer an additional 12 months’ warranty with their purchase, the total warranty period will remain at 2 years). To extend the warranty, please contact our support hotline on tel. 0870 1208 340.

Asus certainly seem to be trying hard to fix the issues with the Prime and keep Prime owners happy.

One final piece of news from Asus:

Asus UK said:

In relation to the recently-announced TF700 model, this product is unlikely to be available in the UK before June at the earliest and no pricing details have been announced.

Prime early adopters will probably breathe a sigh of relief at this news as the current model will be bleeding edge for a while yet.
