Guest samdb74 Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Probably a stupid question but does this thing deal with other codecs - mp3, wmv? ie can i use it instead of WMP
Guest meaks Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 yup it will read all your other formats like mp3 as well
Guest Aonz Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I'm still having problems with this, I'm using Alpha 03 and Divx codec 5.02. I've been trying to play a short .avi file i encoded using VirtualDub: I followed the tutorial with the following additions: - Decimate set to 3 - Keyframe interval 12 frames - Variable bitrate mode: 1- pass - Tried 2 pass, first pass then 2 pass, second pass Same result everytime plays fine on my PC using both DivX 2.0 player and WMP but not on the SPV, only getting sound no picture. Just a white screen. Heres Media info for the clip i'm trying to play: File Name: StorageCardtest.avi Resolution: 176x220 Frames: 1863 FPS: 9.990210 Audio Bitrate: 24000 Audio Rate: 11025 Channels: 1 Running Time: 0h 3m 6s FourCC: divx Audio Format: 85My SPV's status (using SP Task Manager): Apps running: Tray Programs System status: Battery - 99% Phys. memory - Tol: 12112K Free: 7656K Obj. store mem - Tol: 1916K Free: 1460K Storage card - Tol: 122.41M Free: 91.59M Can you see what i'm doing wrong? Thanks
Guest malloc Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Version Alpha03b has been released : http://9eek.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2398 Should solve the slowdown issues, and add a backlight always on function ! (please read the doc about that) malloc
Guest mashkhan Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Sweet! I've got to start doing some work! instead of pratting about with Virtual Dub!
Guest kmon Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Just tried the new version... still seems slower than the first ever version.. if I play my control file in both versions.. i have been using the same encoded file all the way thru.. as to make a bench mark.. does not seem to be a back light on function??? (please read the doc--WHAT doc)????<<<<<< WHAT DOC does anybody know all the key functions??? please disclose. 6= fast forward 5= stop 3= jump forward by say 5 mins 2= toggle search bar #= zoom toggle 0=(this is the best!!) switches between portrait & landscape modes!! no need for it in V dub... still need to resize tho.. kmon
Guest mashkhan Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 There is a document called divxdocen, press 7 for the backlight.
Guest kmon Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 the pressing of 7 only seems to activate the backlight temp???? this seems to only update after 3-4 presses?? any idea's anybody else's still seem slower? (see my last post).. any other keys???? in the reg editer it gives you back light- brightness- EQ options how do i find out what values relate to what keys...??? kmon
Guest kmon Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I can not get the bloody back light off now.. even opening MVP and re-pressing 7 it is on all the time. please be aware......!".. kmon
Guest foxy11 Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 just tried the latest update and seems fine to me?, altho i have not used the older versions so not sure about wether its "slower" or not :). I aint tried the backlight thing yet as i dont wanna get it stuck on and drain the battery tonight ;), seems very watchable to me  No crashes or anything except for the 1st time i ran the app/started the divx it quit the app and went to programs screen, worked fine straight after. Will post more details when i tested a bit more :D
Guest malloc Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 @kmon : Press 7 only ONCE to enable, and only ONCE to stop, and wait at least 10 sec after pressing to stop because it won't turn off immediatly (you just pressed a key, and the OS is automaticaly turning on the screen for another 10sec). It will also set back the settings if you exit the player (menu FILE / EXIT). And if your display stays on (because the player crashed for example) just execute the player, and exit just after (menu FILE / EXIT). Or you can still set your settings back to normal manually on your spv/settings/energy/backlight|screensaver malloc
Guest kmon Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 cheers for the info M worked a treat as usual.. have you (or anyone) tryed encoding an MPEG2 (source) file in VDUB?? even with all the codecs in place (MPEG2-anyhow??) it says MPEG importer filter:pack synchronization error... any idea's will virtual dub open mpeg2/svcd files?????? *EDIT* found it!! a mod version compiled. opens all VOB's SVCD's AC3 http://es.geocities.com/dextstuff/ kmon..
Guest kevlar Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 Press 7 to get back light on? this doesn't work for me, it still goes off after the timeout period. Am I missing something here? Kevlar
Guest stevesco Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 read the documentation included: divx_docen.txt if your english, and it states that if u have had a previous version, then you need to go into the registry and delete the said key.,"pocketMVP" Its located in Hkey_local_machinesoftware delete the whole key. Then re-run the div x player. Just a note, if you have already started pockeyMVP, chance's are that its still running in the background and you should really run the Task Manager and End the Process before doing the registry mod. Hope this helps anyone
Guest kevlar Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 Thanks for the help, but I did delete the reg key before installation. Kevlar
Guest stevesco Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 :) mmmmmmmm ;) <> if u already haven't. have u tried powering down and backup with the new version on.?? , also try again deleting registry value and running again.
Guest kevlar Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 Just checked the readme, here are the full contents; PocketDivx Alpha 03 ------------------- Handles MPEG1, DIVX5.02, MP3, OG/OGM Res up to 220x176 Quit any background tasks (use the very good utility TaskManager) Open a file using the FILE/Open menu (The file list is created scanning the SDCard and the IPSMMy documents directory) Keys during play : pause = action key volume + = up key volume - = down key brightness- = left key brightness+ = right key Stop = 5 Seek backward = 1 Seek forward = 3 Display progress = 2 Zoom = # Rotate = 0 To quit at any moment = * (The seeks move by 10% and works when in pause -> quicker) Have fun, and post your results and compression parameters. Malloc No mention of button 7 and deleting reg key, am I using the newest version or something? ( I DID delete the reg key, must have read it somewhere else ) Kevlar
Guest malloc Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 @kevlar : You have the Alpha03, you need the Alpha03B to do that... You'll find the link for the new updated version up in this thread :) malloc
Guest kevlar Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Thanks Malloc, I don't know how I missed that! Kevlar
Guest kevlar Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Now I feel like an idiot, I can't get my back light off now. I'm doing exactly as you said above, pressing 7 once only to turn on , and again to turn off, exiting the program through file>exit and also going back into settings and altering the timeout there. It's still on Heeeellllllllpppp, battery.......D....ying Kevlar
Guest stevew Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 I had the same problem Kevlar. I found that turning the phone off and then back on again put the backlight back under your control. :)
Guest kevlar Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Yeah, just found the same, but then thought I'd try again. f*****g light is stuck on again. All I've done is load the player, not even load a movie, press 7 to get the light on, it still went off after 10 seconds, pressed another button to get the light back on again, then it stayed on. Now I can't get the B*****d off again. I Left it for ages, then pressed another key ( direction ) just to make sure it was awake, pressed 7 to turn light off ( yeah, right!!) and it's still on. Looks like reboot every time. Does anyone have a surefire way to get this to work? Kevlar
Guest malloc Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Very strange, it works fine on my SPV... One key press to turn it on, one to turn it off (but it will not turn off immediatly, it takes 10 seconds to turn off, because of the OS (since you pressed a key)). And if you've got any problem after, you can just go in your SettingsPowerManagement, and set backlight timeout to "10" and screen saver mode to "turn off"... No need to reboot... I'll put the option in the menu with a feedback on the current setting for the user in the next version... malloc
Guest kevlar Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 That's great Malloc, it's a great app, this is just a minor niggle with a workaround ( reboot ), I don't know why I can't get it back off, I'm doing exactly as I say above, it just stays on. Keep up the good work, looking forward to next version. Are you working on anything else? Oh, and thanks for monitoring this thread, very quick reply. Kevlar
