Guest Asghar_UK Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks, will try it when I get home from work. That was quick.
Guest Sonny Atwal Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 what do you guys think the chances are of being able to update to UK ICS when it is released (B927 iirc) without the need to downgrade? it's just that some of the chinese app's and bootup screen, etc are annoying me with the fact that they are there and I have no idea what they say. Or is a custom ROM in the works to address these problems, I dont like the look of Miuiv4.

B895 was unupgradable even though it was earlier than B926.

Guest andy.hyde4 Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 (edited) has anyone else got no english dictionary? so it comes up with a red line under every word when typing. Is there a way to fix this? is the case on the MIUI port too. Edited July 6, 2012 by andy.hyde4
Guest tillaz Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 I'll give it a go for you in a few mins, just making a nandroid. Edit: boot.img flashed fine via TWRP and the system has booted up as normal. Anything you need my to test while I have it flashed? thanks, any chance you or any one else could give this a quick test :) its for the extended power menu, should add reboot & recovery options (i need to know if the new options are visible in the power off menu, if so flash the revert .zip as its not finished ) http://www.solidfile...m/d/4da43c5ace/ here is a zip to revert the mod after testing http://www.solidfile...m/d/d560623b45/ things will be easer from next week as i should have a g300 by then lol

Guest Ellis456q Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Forgot to say my screen isn't misaligned anymore since going to ICS, it was with gingerbread.
Guest tillaz Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 No go with that; it flashes ok but once booted if you press the power button to bring up the power menu the phone instantly restarts. ah, think i see the problem this one should work, if anyone could give it a try :) http://www.solidfiles.com/d/fdbfc8df64/ this will reverse it if not http://www.solidfiles.com/d/d560623b45/
Guest Lgdslr Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 The easiest way to disable the 4 way lock screen is to go to Settings > Apps > All and click on 2d unlock then just press the disable button. This turns it off and gives you the default ICS lockscreen - no need for freezing or uninstalling. Thanks for this and for your recommendation of Apex in the other thread. I'm very happy with this ROM now. :D

Installed a market keyboard app, not so good, but does the trick for now.
Guest droiddruid Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 I installed Touchpal keyboard from the market and deleted the IME thing that came preinstalled and now have a full en dictionary

It would be good to have that in the ICS keyboard, like CM9
Guest andy.hyde4 Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 Thanks for that link I know have working auto correct on the stock ics keyboard :D

Guest tillaz Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 just been thinking, if the UK ics update is going to be the same as the Chinese version (it should) why have they not released it yet.... all they need to do is change the splash screen & remove the Chinese apps why not release them the same time? because Vodafone are skinning the crap out of it and adding there bloat? lol

Guest Dazzozo Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 They could theoretically block it (unlikely) but that would be Huawei's doing, and I really don't think we're going to get a new build from Huawei. I think they just sent B926 out to Unicom and Vodafone to let them do what they want to it. Unicom had the quicker turnaround.
Guest tillaz Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 iv found something interesting inside the ics update, its seems to indicate that 1088p video recording is enabled but not been used lol <!-- If a codec is not enabled, it is invisible to the applications In other words, the applications won't be able to use the codec or query the capabilities of the codec at all if it is disabled --> <!-- DTS2012040104048 jiangbinghan 20120406 begin--> <VideoEncoderCap name="h264" enabled="true" minBitRate="64000" maxBitRate="20000000" minFrameWidth="176" maxFrameWidth="1920" minFrameHeight="144" maxFrameHeight="1088" minFrameRate="1" maxFrameRate="30" /> <!--DTS2012040104048 jiangbinghan 20120406 end-->
anyone want to test this, see what the camera records video like (make a backup first though) 1080p-video-test.zip
Guest anything-but Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) I`m up early so i`ll give it a go! :) The 1080p option is there,but on selecting it the camera fc`s and you can`t get back into video options to de-select so it`s backup restore time. :) Edited July 8, 2012 by anything-but

For other applications, we do not perform any checks at all. --> <!-- DTS2012031702489 xieronghua 20120326 begin --> <VideoDecoderCap name="wmv" enabled="false"/> <AudioDecoderCap name="wma" enabled="false"/> <!-- DTS2012031702489 xieronghua 20120326 end -->
also a logcat of the force close will be interesting to look at, will have a look when my dad gets the g300 on Monday
