try using thumb keyboard i use it and i love it but if you do try it i would advise using a custom layout e.g portrate standard layout and landscape have it set up for 5 inch displays (obviously)

First place for me is Thumb Keyboard - highly customisable and great macro shortcut keys, followed very closely by SwiftKey for outstanding predictable text function (that probably won't be suitable for the OP however lol)

Hackers Keyboard. Prediction can be turned off or on. Rather neat future allows full keyboard in landscape and normal Android keyboard in portrait.
