Guest reapo Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 I upgraded my U8815 today from B885 to B927 via the Software Upgrade method and have discovered that the RBS app isn't supported anymore. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, has anyone found a way to solve this problem?

Guest Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Even after using the build.prop fix it seems I am having app problems still. On my OSD, I got a notification for boat browser update, so I thought I would check it out on my g300 too but it is not even visible in market, and, if I go to web version of market my g300 is greyed out?
Guest reapo Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Hey Hpez, I tried that method, but I cannot root my phone. While trying to apply the superrecovery image, while at the 'writing' part, it says FAILED -(remote: command not allowed)

Yeah, I am not sure we are using the best finger print. Maybe Paul or another dev can find a more suitable fingerprint or we start using a hacked market.app Hey Hpez, I tried that method, but I cannot root my phone. While trying to apply the superrecovery image, while at the 'writing' part, it says FAILED -(remote: command not allowed) Follow the steps below to unlock your bootloader. Boot in to freshly installed ICS, install ADB drivers from the ISO mounted on the phone, enable USB debugging and then connect USB cable - make sure adb works. At this point it is wise to remove the dload folder from the sdcard so you do not mistakenly re-flash the update (thanks to tronads for pointing this part out).Download 'unlockbootloader.exe' from http://www.modaco.co...attach_id=81949Run 'unlockbootloader.exe' and click 'ROOT Your Phone' - a console will appear and then close, after this open the app drawer and check that Superuser.apk has been installed OK, if so, you now have root.Run 'unlockbootloader.exe' again and this time click 'Unlock BOOTLOADER' - you should see the capacitive buttons flash on your phone and the app will close on completion.Power off your phone, remove battery for a few seconds and replace, then power on whilst holding vol. down and power to go in to fastboot - the phone will hang on the splash screen whilst in fastboot.Once this is done, follow the instructions to install clockworkmod recovery from either ( http://www.modaco.co...15ascend-g-300/ ) or ( http://www.modaco.co...-and-i-cant-do/ ). Which link you go to is your choice. Edited July 19, 2012 by Hpez
Guest reapo Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 http://www.modaco.co...20#entry1989459 do I have to do anything special to my phone (enable/disable fastboot etc.) before that superrecovery method works?
Guest Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Yeah, I am not sure we are using the best finger print. Maybe Paul or another dev can find a more suitable fingerprint or we start using a hacked market.app It cool though as I got the update, I downloaded it on my mothers rooted skate  and bluetoothed it to my g300.

Guest Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 do I have to do anything special to my phone (enable/disable fastboot etc.) before that superrecovery method works? Superrecovery method ? You do not use superrecovery on ICS, it will not work, you need unlockbootloader.exe
Guest reapo Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 OK, everything (RBS) works, used the unlockbootloader method. The Google Play app on my phone still says that my device is unsupported, but I was able to install it from my browser. Had to temp unroot in SU, before that worked though.
Guest unaszplodrmann Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 That was Barclays! Uhuh, RBS was guilty too and is due a £230m fine. There could also be others involved, time will tell.

Before upgrading, you should have backed up your apps using Huawei AllBackup and then reinstalled them after. You don't need to install it from the market then.
Guest unaszplodrmann Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 I consider myself "owned". Yeah, by RBS :D
