NEED HELP WITH DELL XCD35.

I have got a brand new dell xcd35. I want to root the phone and install Swedish Snow RLS7 (Android 2.3.5).

The phone is a GEN 2 European Blade.

I have seen the guide given here : http://www.modaco.com/topic/335781-22apr-guide-how-to-install-a-custom-rom-on-the-zte-u-v880-or-gen2-device/

But there are too many methods out there.so basically am getting confused.

It would be very much helpful if someone can tell me the easy way to root amy phone and install

Swedish Snow RLS7 on it.Please tell step by setp the methods to do so.And also provide the links of the softwares,drivers,apps,and other needed stuffs as m0ost of the link provided there no more work. Thanks in advance.

So here it is:_

1. Install z4root apk. Get it from here: http://www.blade.az.pl/index.php/tools/7-tools-zte-blade.html

2. Get Superuser and Rom Manager apps from market. Free versions will do.

3. Open z4root apk - Choose option " temporary Root". Wait some time till rooting process completes.

4. Go to app ROM Manager- Choose first option Flash Clockworkmod recovery.

- Choose ZTE Blade from list of devices.

- Wait till it download the recovery.

- Superuser pop up message will come. Just hit allow then Recovery is flashed.

5. Put your ROM and Gapps package on root of your sdcard.(Don't forget to check MD5 sums of the downloaded zip with MD5 posted from where u download ROM and gapps)

6. In ROM Manager, select option install rom from sdcard. Browse to your Rom zip and select it. A popup menu will come with three options - Back up current rom, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache. Check all three and proceed.

It will first make backup of your current rom and then install selected ROM.

7. Now u have to wait for your new ROM to boot, may take from 2 to 5 minutes.

8. After ROM is up then let it sit on launcher for 5 minutes. Then long press Power button and select option Reboot - Recovery. Once in recovery goto install zip from sdcard - choose zip then select gapps package and select yes. ( In Recovery:- Volume keys to move up down, HOME key for selecting, BACK key for back.)

9. Go back to main menu and select Reboot.

This is common for all ROMs.

Enjoy your new ROM.

can u throw some light regarding system partition, TPT,Windows Flashing etc etc.

I guess the stock system partition is waste of space.so i would like to keep my partition like Gen 2 custom:160mb system, 2mb cache, 279 mb data, 0.1mb oem

what do i have to do in order to do so ?

Xcd with stock rom has around 215MB system partition, but if u want to install GB ROM's its better to flash 160mb system tpt to have more data space. Flashing tpt is only done to change system partition size to accommodate full custom rom.

Why don't you try both and see for yourself?
