Guest Dildano Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 I don't think there's a free method of unlocking the G300 (yet) but I got mine unlocked for £4.99 on eBay. Running a the very experimantal JellyBean ROM Dazzozo's developing right now.
Guest JethroUK Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 ......I had £10 of vouchers which I doubled up at the Customer Services desk for a £20 'token', spent over £30 in-store on my weekly grocery shop, took the till receipt and the token to the phone desk and paid £45 for a new G300..... How does that work? I get the £10 voucher doubled to £20 discount bit.... .....but i dont get how the "spent over £30 in-store on my weekly grocery shop" gets it down to £45 bit? assuming it starts off at £99 in store have i missed a bit?

From the 3rd September they have a promotion where you get £15 discount on a phone if you spend £30 instore at the same time as purchasing the phone. i.e. £65 when bought with £30 of shopping (£80 sale price -£15 discount). Some people say that you can get the discount even by just buying anything (doesn't have to be £30), as long as any other item is scanned *before* the G300 goes through the till, not sure if they have fixed this though, check HUKD forum. Guest JethroUK Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 Kewl - cheers - thought i done well buying it for £63
Guest BillBong Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 Can confirm there does seem to be a glitch with the £15 discount for a £30 spend as it seems to work with any value of groceries. I've just picked it up for £65 + a £0.99p bag of crisps! Apparently you have to let the grocery items through first before the phone and it automatically triggers a £15 special offer. The checkout lady even commented it seemed a good price lol I'm going to ask Vodafone for an unlock code as I have a separate contract sim with them. Do you have to tell them why you want to unlock it or do they not ask? Can anyone say which menu option they went through to get theirs? Thanks

I got one yesterday in Tesco for a friend and it was unlocked out of the box. EDIT If you don't want to go to Vodafone for an unlock code (they can charge £20) you can get an unlock code on ebay for a fiver. Edited September 6, 2012 by Ascend
Guest Richard_Arkless Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 I am going to tesco today, how likely is it that they have fixed this issue (as Im not going to be spending £30) and I assume this issue is happening in all tesco shops

Done the same thing and got my G300 for £65 + £4 of groceries :D The key to making this 'glitch' work is to scan the groceries FIRST (before the phone) Good luck to anyone who manages to get this deal! I'm one happy fella. Edited September 7, 2012 by Russ_uk
Guest slysi Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Got the last on at Tesco Northampton for £65 + £30 pounds of shopping. Could not try the grocery’s first bit as they only had them in the phone shop so had to "do a shop" and then show my receipt in the phone shop. Still a cracking deal and now its running ICS as well. Thanks everyone
Guest slysi Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Mereway did not have any, had to go to Weston Favell to get their last one for my daughter after her little bro dropped her last phone down the loo...... After upgrading to ICS I fance bagging one myself when there back in stock.
Guest nsmacd1 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Can you just get these 'off the shelf', or do you need to go in to a store when the phone section is open?
Guest Al_1604 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Generally from the 'phone shop', some stores don't have a separate phone shop so may have them on the shelf instore.
Guest Malthus Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Generally you pick up a card from the phone section and take it to the till, and the checkout assistant will call another member of staff to go retrieve the phone from the bond.
Guest Frankish Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Just bought two of these and a couple of soft drinks. 132 quid ha ha. Brilliant.
Guest Al_1604 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Looks like some blighters have been buying them! So unfair.

I'm just glad It lasted as long as it did. Last year I got my ZTE Crescent for £39 and now my G300 for £65 ...I do love a good bargain :D
