Guest maritimesbob
I'm downgrading to Gingerbread for various reasons. Never had a problem on my previous g300, but this time the dload is getting stuck about quarter of the way through the unpacking process. I use the forced method, ie both volume buttons pressed and boot up. I have tried different sd cards, an 8gb and a 2gb, both pretty much the same. I'm using the B886 .app from the Huawei website. I am presently running and ICS rom on the 2030 baseband. Any ideas why the package is getting stuck, ie the pink bar stays at about quarter way? Thanks. Guest wrtease
try the downgrade package then try again. Edited September 22, 2012 by wrtease
Guest maritimesbob
Thanks, never heard of the downgrade package. I'm downloading a different .app package to try that.
Guest Hogweed
http://g300.thebrona.../middlepackage/ That's the "middle package" or downgrade/upgrade tool. Flash it first as you would a full update then flash the full update. That usually works but there is the final IMEI hack method if all else fails. Guest maritimesbob
Even the small middle package is not unpacking. It just gets stuck somewhere (ie the pink bar). I cannot unpack any of the .app packages it would seem, so I'm stuck on ics. Anyone else had these problems?
Guest Hogweed
Yes it is known that sometimes the middle package doesn't work and then you have the final option of the IMEI hack downgrade. Do not do this unless you are absolutely sure you understand the procedure and you have multiple backups of the IMEI stored somewhere safe. Email a copy to all your friends and family to be safe (don't really) :-) Check this guide Section 6 but note all the warnings. Guest maritimesbob
Yep, zero'd the IMEI using the downgrade zip on Dazzos website. I forgot about doing that, it worked the last time I had to do this. The firmware is now unpacking.
Guest bentescort
I had this problem but found that simply restoring my imei without needing to zero it first enabled the update package to complete. The backup I had was from when I first rooted the phone on B892.
Guest 2thin2swim
Oh plop, I appear to have got myself into a right pickle. Huawei G300 unlocked from Vodafone. I've downloaded and installed a copy of ICS from the Huawei website (appears to be a chinese version) after successfully SU'ing it and bootlocking(?) it. ICS went on fine and worked well, except it didn't want to install any Gapps, including Play (which you're kinda screwed without) returning a E:/ signature verification error from within CWM... so I had a read around and found that my CWM was not the same as everyone elses - it didn't have as many options. Following the instructions given by http://is.gd/JxqaQe , I appeared to be making ground. Except now, I still can't install Gapps and it has the CWM usb charging fault. I've tried to backtrack slightly and install the vodafone 886 version, but now the pink bar freezes on 3-button reset. Oh joy! I either need a resolution to my google play and usb CWM fault, or a total restart. I'm not too upset about formatting everything, as the numbers have already gone... Help would be appreciated greatly!

Help would be appreciated greatly! - I've backed up my IMEI already and its on 2030 bandbase, too (whatever that means) Oh, and the CWM does not boot anything, it simply just shows the top hat logo when you select any of the menu options. Press the power button again and it returns to the menu in a closed loop. Only way to break loop is to pull the battery. I've enjoyed stubbing my toe more than this. Guest bentescort
I suggest trying a different rom update. I had a similar situation back along and was trying to use B892 update which would fail every time. In the end I tried a B895 update file and it flashed no problem. Guest 2thin2swim
Sussed it. I read on another thread that the CWM loop isn't a loop at all. It's simply because the phone's home button is used to confirm selections, rather than the power button. Such a simple difference which caused so much ball ache. Life can finally continue as normal. I even had to get my old iPhone out when this happened. I felt disgusted with myself.
