So how do you test whether it is susceptible without ruining a SIM card?

An surely we should complain to Vodafone and Huawei for not supplying the patch that Google made available in June (!).

The proof of concept test code only displays your imei and is safe. It won't trash your sim

Yep, ask Vodafone and Huawei to issue patches

Hey guys, I just wanted to tell you that 'avast' anti virus has been updated, and and now has USSD protection + other stuff.

Does this mean that anybody who uses the updated Avast anti virus would not need, dialer one and telstop, recommended in this thread to overome potential USSD problems

I would have thought so. Avast seem to do things right. I imagine you can check it by using some of the benign USSD commands found on the first page of this thread.
