So you could have some crazy full screen pic for the unidentified CIA spooks that keep calling and then something small leaving a transparent gap for the phone number for the no-specific picture people.

Love the random picture display.. used to have a folder with different pictures for same people and changed em around manualy! :lol: Whats the possibility of attaching ringtones to each number/picture.? Gonna go show off to random strangers!

Guest FrankyG Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Has anyone had a problem when receiving a call which does not have a matching picture, but is NOT withheld. When this happens and I have an unknown.jpg in the /pict folder, the picture displays correctly but the callers phone number is displayed twice, only overlapping each other - ugly! The attachments show what I mean. It's the smaller black text which is the problem, it would look fine if this wouldn't show at all. I think that's Midnights avatar I have as my unknown.jpg...it was handy at the time. Hope you dont mind, if its a problem I'll remove it. Any suggestions or advice? Doing this, only the smaller black text appears, although it flickers. A temporary workaround methinks... FrankyG

It's strange, cause I can't get SmartFace to work, but whoCall Manager v2.7b works fine for me... When using SmartFace, it wont show my pictures...... Well anyway, I'm sure the final version will work like a charm!

To start with, are we all happy that we install smartface (in fact the cab does this for us now) by putting the smartfacemgr.exe somewhere on the phone and having a shortcut to run it in /ipsm/windows/startup. Then we have a directory on our phone called /Storage Card/pict (you may have to create this directory yourself, and you MUST have a storage card). Now, in that directory we make files for each number we want with names like '02071234567.jpg' or '+6491234567.jpg' where the name of the file MATCHES the number that appears on screen when that person rings us. Additionally we have 2 special names of 'parano.jpg' which displays when number is withheld and 'unknown.jpg' which displays if we have no file for the number that calls. Thats the basics... now the extra for experts. We can take the file we have created (eg '02071234567.jpg') and append some stuff onto the front of the filename to control a few more things. Here's the things: Position of image. use 'im' for image followed by t/m/b for top middle or bottom and l/c/r for left center or right. So to choose to put the image at the top of the screen in the center I would call it '[imtc]_02071234567.jpg' See what we've done we've told the program that when 020712345467 rings, we want this image to display and that we want the (im)age at (t)op and ©enter. OK, all other settings are put in a string in the same way. We have: scale the image - for this we just give the destination size we want in the form 120X100 (which is 120 pixels wide by 100 pixels high) so our file name would be '[120X100]_02071234567.jpg'. Scaling is slow and may look nasty, so you are better of resizing the image yourself on the PC rather than using this option. We can stick multiple options together for instance '[120X100imbl]_02071234567.jpg would scale the image to 120 by 100 pixels and then place the (im)age at (b)ottom (l)eft. Calling number. Smartface now prints the number to screen (over your image). We can control where it prints it, exactly the same as we control the image position but use cn instead of im. So '[cnmr]_02071234567.jpg' says this image with ©aller (n)umber displayed at (m)iddle ®ight. Font size, we can change the font size of the number displayed. fs09 is a (f)ont (s)ize of (09) points. fs12 gives 12 point etc. As in '[fs09]_02071234567.jpg' I think you have to put the leading 0 in so if it's less than 10 make sure you use 08 or 09 NOT 8 or 9. Finally, font colour. Surprisingly, this is fc. Followed by a hexadecimal colour definition. This is the sort of colour definitions used in web pages and stuff. In a nutshell a hexadecimal number is , from 0 to 15, 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F. So the numbers 0 to 255 is 00 to FF (if your not happy with that look it up on google). The hex colour is 3 pairs defining the red,green and blue components, so 000000 is black, FFFFFF is white and 00FF00 is bright green. Define the (f)ont ©olour as follows : '[fc00FF00]_02071234567.jpg' You can then use any combination of one or all of these to your hearts content. so [ 120X130imbccnbcfs19fc7f7f00]_02071234567.jpg is the image scaled to 120 by 130 pixels the (im)age displayed at (b)ottom ©enter the ©aller (n)umber displayed at (b)ottom ©enter (f)ont (s)ize of 19 points and (f)ont ©olour of 7f7f00 which is a pleasant puke/poo colour.

Just one thing ... I have everything working except the caller number coming up over the image. I'm using the xbox skins from midnight's site (the pics are full screen size, so I don't need to size them) & am editing/adding pics to each per caller using macromedia fireworks (saving each as +44131....jpg) I have the file extension as follows - [cnmcfs19ffffff]_+44131.....jpg But my numbers come up in black!! Also there is no name coming up with them, either that or else it's black too, and being obscured by a black part of the image! It flickers alot too, don't it?!
