Root shouldn't be a problem if you can get me the stock boot.img from somewhere.

Need boot.img from stock rom. Search on ZTE support pages for some new ROM upgrade packages.

Go to this link : http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/UK/UK_SoftWare/201210/P020121010610169874154.zip

1. Save the .RAR Compressed file to the desktop , open it and install "ZTE Update Tool"

2. Once installed it may need a couple of minutes to download latest updates

3. Make sure you have an Internet Connection to download the update package

4. After you open , you continue and follow on-screen instructions

5. After the Hardware is detected , new system update will be available .

6. It will ask you where you want to extract or place the Package , place it on the DESKTOP

7. YOU NOW have that full package to deliver to CEC0

The package includes a TPT Flash Card Updater with the files and everything that he needs

the only choice is "back button'' .. tipsypedro already posted the mtd.zip on the first page and

files_build_config.zip.. inside

files_build_config.zip is the boot.img.. is that what you need?

Yes is all the files that is needed

files_build_config is not the boot.img. Just the kernel configuration. We need full boot.img extracted from boot partition.

I don't know how to extract them without having root already.

Root exploits like psneuter and GingerBreak do not work on Skate.

But ZTE has released new factory updates to the Stock ROM of ZTE Skate.

This is not a ZTE Skate as we know it. Completely different device.

is there any other way on how to root this device.. do you need any other files? build.prop or something.. i saw that file via es file explorer.. pls. help.. :(

Posted

can we root it via cwm recovery? but we only have the stock recovery.. :(

We need compatible clockworkmod. To create it we need original kernel (boot.img)

I contacted Paul to ask him what exploit he used to gain local root on Skate to extract images. But no answer yet.

I'll try to compile kernel from sources to see if we can get the clockworkmod booting.

I need output of: cat /proc/mtd

The mtd.zip on the first page is empty

Made some real progress. Completing clockworkmod that we can try

to boot (not flash) so we can make a nandroid backup of stock rom + install superuser.

The good thing is we don't have to flash the clockworkmod but just boot it from external image.

This means no changes will be made to device at all so because it will not rewrite stock recovery.

I just need that cat /proc/mtd to double check the partition layout. Preparing the clockworkmod package will be

a question of couple of minutes after that.

C'mon guys. I don't have the whole day for this :)

Use full editor (more reply options)

Or just paste it here. It's not too much of text.

And that's all??? Should be more lines of text there. The list of mount points.

Well, nevermind. I can give you what I have to try... Just wait for couple of minutes
