Guest mark_hunter Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 im having no success with Vdub at all as i open my file which is( the matrix DivX) and load clints V2 settings. i then try to save as Avi and i get a message saying "Error initialising audio stream compression, requested conversion is not possible." HELP would be nice as i am totally stuck and am getting very frustrated as peolpe have had no problems!
Guest brunoh Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Marc, I have the same problem. Are you also using windows xp? I think, that on my machine, there is no audio-codec for mpeg layer 3, that also can encode and works with virtualdub. I do not know, where to get one. For any help, I would be glad.
Guest brunoh Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 after some hours of searching, I have found a codec that works for me at: the radium codec at http://www.einfach-divx.de/download_detail...php?download=15 After installation, I had to disable the decode-only codec from Windows-XP (or Media-Player), then it worked in virtualdub
Guest DrG Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Maybe a stupid question but when using clinteastman's v2 settings while encoding an episode of Phoenix Nights on VirtualDub, the output was a bit blocky/pixelated... The input file is and Xvid, does this matter? cheers
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 No that doesn't matter! As long as it's at a high bitrate to start with. It should come out like one of my trailers (appart from the new 25fps one in the new PocketDivx 8R Beta1 thread) Is it the same?
Guest DrG Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 No, your trailers run very smoothly with no pixalation at all, my Phoenix Nights is very blocky when there is quick movements or more than 2 things goin on, on screen.... (but alot less action than the Matrix trailer???) cheers
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 What's the audio and video stream set to?
Guest DrG Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 i used the non wide screen setting in your v2 download, didnt change a thing..... cheers
Guest jbyte Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I've installed VirtualDub v1.5.1 on my PC and use Clints' settings. Wow! The motion was really smooth! I made a little modification on the frame rate settings. Instead of using (decimate by 3), I use (decimate by 2), and the result is even more smoother than before. Thanks Clint. Excellent job. Keep up the good work! Question to Clint: Can avi file produced by VirtualDub be converted to mpg format so that I can play it using PocketTV? Will it retain the smoothness or much better when encoded in mpg? Thanks.
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I think you should be able to use something like TMPGEnc as long as you've got the correct CODECs.
Guest jbyte Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Thanks Matt. ;) But I've already tested TMPEGEnc and follow the procedures posted on PocketTV thread, but get bad results. I'm encoding a music video from a cd. What I'm thinking is that Clint probably used VirtualDub first, and then reencoded the avi using TMPGEnc. Correct me if I'm wrong, Clint. Because I've tried your Matrix trailer on PocketTV and it displays the trailer in full width (full screen mode). Mine using TMPEGEnc directly displays a little box on the center and the resolution is very poor (pixelite). I have no problem with avi produced by VirtualDub and played it using PocketMVP. Any suggestions regarding my problem is very much appreciated. Did I go out of the topic? :? If I did, my apology.
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 First thing is the new PocketMVP runs faster so can handle a higher framerate (if you look in the thread for PocketMVP you will find My Matrix Experiment, thet runs at 24fps'ish) The second thing is no, the PocketTV stuff is done from scratch and not usein the recommended settings.
Guest jbyte Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Ok. Just downloaded the new PocketMVP. I'll install it and see what can I get from this new release. I will also download your Matrix Experiment and compare the quality with whatever I produce using VirutalDub. Thanks, Clint.
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 My Matrix Experiment doesn't run great... It was ment to get feedback on... But only one person bothered!!!! Here's lookin at you Palindrome. ;)
Guest HungrySPV Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 Is there any way to install VDUB without having to install this GAIN Advertising Software ? When I run it keeps saying it needs it ? and then fails.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 I just have the files downloaded as a zip...no installer. See http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net if you haven't already.
