how do i extract the boot image from the rom.

ok gone through the process and no device is listed via mtkTools. i manged to make a recovery from dloaded files but after i flash it in MobileUncle it just reboots and then restarts

any ideas

its in the root of the roms.zip package, open it on your computer with winrar

im used to the old way of following the instructions or simply plugging in the phone and clicking on a .bat file.

never mind, i guess thats what i get for a phone with no cummunity behind it.

Only 9 months to go before i get a new one...probly octacore by then.

1280 x 800 (800p) little bit higher res than the original nexus 7, for £60 its a steal 

the allwinner A31s Soc it uses scores 20000+ on antutu and they actually release some source so building cyanogenmod for it will be possible

Being an all time Android user, a few days back I bought an ipad mini 4g 16gb (just to see the feel and quality). I was really impressed with the quality and battery life but unfortunately I didn't like the IOS. You can't do whatever you want to do like Android.

Is there anything near to such quality in Chinese Android tablets(8 inches) ? I want to buy one. Thanks.

I saw this a week or 2 ago, very cheap at under £70 GBP. Only downside I see is the slightly disappointing 480x854 screen resolution.

looks like most china phone stores on the web are not offering free shipping to the UK anymore...

once you get to making the payment on paypal a box pops up with shipping prices, so i ended up just going back to dealsprime and paying the $15 for DHL 

altogether it came to £69... (used 3% off coupon) looks a great tablet will let people know what its like when i receive it if interested.

It should come pre-rooted. MIUI has a built-in permissions manager which allows you to enable root (if you want it to) and decide which apps have can have root access.

Not sure what you can do about installing CWM, however. A quick Google indicates that only a Chinese CWM is available at present.

Go to miui.com, you will find everything you want. The English version is en.miui.com....

Yes, you are right. First one think that one has no root access but you have to go to permission manager in one folder called "system". Open permission manager and switch on root access. And you are rooted. MIUI is a beautiful ROM. I am having it on two of my phones and I don't want to go back to any other ROM.

Most stock recoveries can also install zip files, I believe?

It really depends what sort of recovery Xiaomi install on their phones.
