Guest Rico_89 Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Just saw this: http://www.expansys.com/lg-optimus-4x-hd-p880-black-229927/ LG Optimus 4X HD P880 for £250. Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A9 4.7 inches microSD, up to 64 GB 8 MP Camera: Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization. Basically this has reaffirmed my view that anything over £150 just isn't worth it. If you spend £200 on a quad core from China, it's a good price but add an extra £50 and you get something a little different. With the Chinese phones you basically get stock android but with something like the LG you get more integrated features like, Image stabilization, TV out etc.
Guest bryfly Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Still itching to get a phone from China, this seems good price for the Newman K1, what do you think guys, waiting for umix2 or Jiayu G4 seems for ever... and will be more expensive http://www.merimobil..._p/meri8126.htm £119 OGS Display http://www.fastcardtech.com/VOWNEY-V5 Agree with Rico_89 about cost so Think I will get one of these at the low end, not sure which one, can get the Newman K1 for £123.68 with discount so not much different to the Vowney - V5 @ £119, also is it best to get it rooted within the order?
Guest Wacky.ddw Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) Goophone has really good clones but i dont like the idea of having a clone :) There finally is an english unboxing video by gizchina. I hope they will also release a full black version where the capacitive buttons light up. Guess i will wait till next week to decide wich one comes out best the Jiayu or the umi. http://www.gizchina....hands-on-video/ Edited May 12, 2013 by Wacky.ddw

Vowney V5 WCDMA 850/1900/2100MHz Newman K1 WCDMA 850/2100MHz the rest of the specs look the same. about rooting, search google and see if there are any easy guide to root ether phone, if not pay extra for root also, its best to look at a few videos of a phone on YouTube before you buy it Vowney V5 Newman K1

Guest aliaird Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 OK, I'm like a number on here and a bit fed up (and confused!) I had hoped to get the 2GB Jiayu (and have even pre-ordered one with Mentoo) but I need something soon (my Jiayu G2 has a cracked screen and is basically being held together by the protective screen I put on it) and I can't wait for ever. I mainly use my phone for social media and browsing so I am thinking I can do without the 2GB, but want the 3000 mAh battery ideally as I never feel I have enough juice. The Jiayu G2 is about all I can handle size wise (the G4 seems similar external dimensions) and I think a 5 inch display would be too big for one handed operation for me. So, is the Jiayu G4 1GB phone available yet with the 3000mAh? Are there others I should look at? Thanks!
Guest akarana Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 You could rilly rilly confuse yrself at http://www.gizchina.com/2013/05/09/top-15-quad-core-mt6589-phones-you-can-buy-right-now/ Note he says you can buy right now, no spy photo, no rumours and no promised launch dates.
Guest Wacky.ddw Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) This phone looks good to, looks a little like iphone 4s like the metal band around it to bad that it only has 4gb ROM (and 1GB ram :P) Edited May 12, 2013 by Wacky.ddw
Guest ChrisPNE Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Does 4GB ROM hold these phones back? How is the space divided up?
Guest tillaz Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 i like the design of this http://lightake.com/...4GB_Black-64090
Guest Rico_89 Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 i like the design of this http://lightake.com/...4GB_Black-64090 Oh man that is nice.. and the price is pretty good too. Are there any disadvantages with a clone phone as opposed to something that isn't trying to be something else? One question; do these phones, Goophone, G4, X2 etc. support HSDPA, or are they just 3G?
Guest blaster99999 Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 I made my attempt on a chinese phone. After all the talk here i decided to start with this one. http://www.pandawill...ack-p74583.html Hopefully Tillaz will buy the same and have a rom :D !! ive ordered 2 of these for my lads looks a lot of phone for little money, looks good on youtube reviews, just a bit chunky but is a big screen at 4.7 inch and is ips

Mine should come around begining of June from the tracking. Hopefully it will be good enough. At least it will be easy enough to resell it as the price is so low. Also if someone is intresteed i found it cheaper here http://www.diytrades...hone-black.html But their website shows an anonymous proxy, so maybe is a fraud. I'm not technical. Guest Rico_89 Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 I don't think I'd buy a clone phone ;) Check out this video of the Goophone X7. It looks a bit laggy to me for a quad core and why are they using an HTC rom lol.. Crazy. Anyway an interesting thing to note is when he puts the UMI X2 next to the X7.. :D those screens look so damn good I just gotta get a 5 inch screen now for sure.

I just rejoined and got the discount, the screen looks good on youtube review ive seen and looks fast ui too. Only few things that bothered me was only having 3 bands 900/1800 and 2100 , but i think that covers all uk 2g and 3g signals , and also its a bit chunky almost 12mm think. I'm a bit confused, what is the Goophone x7 supposed to be a clone of ? can't be an iphone as i'v never seen a 5 inch iphone or one with capacitive buttons  and from the screenshots i have seen its just branded Goophone (on the back)

Guest bryfly Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 Decided to order a Vowney v5 ,(Verne V5) im on the three network at the moment which I believe uses 2100MHz, the phone spec says WCDMA 850/1900/2100MHz, so hopefully that is fine??, however if I changed to another UK network in the future would the phone still be ok?
