Yeah a bit exited pics = Vowney V5: Didn't order a case I'd have to see the case I was getting before I purchased one.

So far: Headphones: Louder than G300 and sounds better and cleaner. First time on headphones I thought "oh no this is terrible" but then I remembered a 4 pole adapter that came with my Turtle Beach M5's and bingo the sound is awesome.

On speaker while talking is about the same as the G300 for me. Not the loudest but adequate.

The creased plastic that has been seen on the back when the cover is off, also seen on the G4, is not poor moulding but just a very thick insulating tape that covers some tech on the phone.

To anyone who has a V5. What did you ask for when adding extra notes to your order?? i.e for play store or for cheaper postage??

I asked for Paystore and paid for root. I wouldn't do that again because Tillaz has sorted that for us. However I did ask them to mark the package as a gift costing $30, which they did.

Yeah sweet idea, just don't order through fastcardtech they are selling clone Vowney V5's as real ones. If you order a vowney v5 you actually get a Firefly V5

Earphone and speaker quality is the same as the G300 and I don't get any vibration or distortion. However the mic is my only complaint. It sounds a little muffled for people that are trying hear what I'm saying.. When I use the mic on my headphones I can be heard crystal clear so I'm going to try a few things and see if I can improve the situation.

Besides Merimobiles and Lightake that sell it for $184, there are:

Mixeshop $164

MiniDeal: $175

I might have a slight faulty earphone speaker, but its only a slight niggle , do you have Bluetooth in your car , if yes car you let me know how you get on with it, my v5 connects perfect but swaps between sims and I've now had it 3 times swap while I'm on the phone which then means the call reverts to the phone so can't hear person calling me and I can't hear them, that's my only main problem I've had .

blaster, make sure the steel toggles that lock down the sim and sd card are actually locked down. When I first opened the phone they rattled a bit until I made sure they clicked into place. As for bluetooth, well not in the car but I have a blue tooth headset but that might produce the same problem, and I only have one sim installed, although I might change that and test it out later.

My only complaint is the Mic.I wonder if it's software related because the sound recorder picks up my voice quite clear.

Here's some G300 comparison pics. I noticed that the V5 feels thinner than the G300 ...anyway see for yourselves, V5 on the left.

The screen is awesome and it handles full webpages like a laptop.. smooth and lag free.

Rico 89 thanks for the update , the screen is amazing and really is a quality phone I've shown it to 6 ppl at work and asked what they think it cost and they guessed between £400 to £500 and none off them ever seen a phone that takes 2sims got a lot ppl looking into china phones, also noticed merimobiles now have a v5 case at $12.99 wonder if that's a proper one to suit phone.

They've had the case for a while. It was previously $6.99.

I noticed the price rise too. The image they are using though looks the same as this one to me.

Either its a stock photo or the same cover fits? Or the price could have changed because they have good specific covers in. $12.99 seems a bit steep to me when you look at other phone covers!

the g4 has increased by about $100 in price in 7 months , with increasing popularity I'm guessing the same thing could happen with the v5. Tempted to jump in now while the price is right

ive done a youtube video but just cant get it to upload tried 3 times, but a little review of the vowney v5 now ive owned it for over a week. Good points are dual sim , 5 inch 1280/720 ips screen, quad core 1.2ghz , 1 gb ram and 4gb storage. tapered slim bezel , well built no creeking like the g300 very bright screen and very sensitive, android 4.2.1 with sd card default write storage. I like the no nonsense simple design nice touch power and volume buttons, sound is loud and ring tone loud too, battery 2400mah easy lasts a day even with 2 sims and a lot of usage, camera and video is exceptional its perfect clear and very rapid camera will take shots seamlessly and aut focus works well. Bad points not easy to use one handed , back and body of phone slippy no grip, on car Bluetooth hands free mode sometimes cuts to other sim card while your on a call. In call speaker tinny and vibrates and distorts a little, gps first lock I found impossible unless you follow the guide which is posted above , gps now works and locks within 20 seconds , that's it really

Did you get the vid to upload to youtube yet m8 ? choking to see a english reveiw on this fone

Here are some quick comments on my new ZTE V970

Phone arrived as gift and well packed. Was worried a bit as the seal was broken, but not surprised as tracking did say “opening”!

Content in box: uk adapter, phone, battery, (chinese?) plug, usb, manual (in chinese!), screen protector.

Phone is much lighter than G300. Big screen, very responsive (after the factory protector was taken off) but not very bright outside in the sun. The phone is very fast

Both sims work fine. One for 3g and the other for gsm. I’ve had the phone for whole day today after a full night charge and it had around 55% battery still left. I’m going to put it through its paces in the coming days.

Wifi, Bluetooth work fine. I’d like to find out if GPS works as I sometimes use google navigation while driving (prefer this over TomTom!)

Its not rooted and Play store wasn’t installed, but this can easily be done (very soon J).

Got Antutu from HiMarket (which was all in chinese ), and the phone scored 5821.

I’m liking the stock rom, so I might stick with it for a while before trying out new roms.

All in all, a great phone, especially the dual sim.

Thanks for the recommendation blaster.

Hi. For anyone who has a Vowney V5, does it have USB OTG? (the USB port that plugs into the micro USB at the bottom of the V5) As on some Chinese websites, I see a picture USB cable that looks like an OTG cable, but some an x through it, and others don't. Before you ask, I can't translate it as its an image. Thanks :)

From fastcardtech, new arrival: VOWNEY V5 PRO. http://www.fastcardt...m/VOWNEY-V5-PRO

Usually pro means 2 gb of ram and a larger rom. But the only difference is that they claim this V5 has gorilla glass.

I'm not sure I believe them.

There is reference to a V5T HERE which supposedly uses the 1.5GHz MTK6589T and has 1GB of RAM

Guest Rico_89

Yes it should have OTG, I haven't tried it yet because I only ordered the OTG cable today, from eBay, for £1.49, so I'll check it out when it comes.

http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTQwODYxMjMy.html

That V5T has exactly the same specs as the normal V5 but with a faster 1.5 ghz quad core. fastcardtech have the V5 Pro listed with the same 1.2 processor, Gorilla glass and a 13mp camera. Something just aint right.

Merrimobile coupons:

MOE = 4%, this is the one I used.

FACEBOOK = $10 but might require a minimum purchase.

VIP = 5% but also might require a minimum purchase of about £130. At least that is what their system told me, so I used the MOE coupon and that worked fine.
