Guest JetKun Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Just wasn't to chip in with a shopping experience from touch-us.com... I ordered a jiayu g4 then decided, for various reasons, that I didn't want it anymore, asked for a refund, and they gave it within 10 minutes of me asking.. their customer service is much more personal Imo than merimobiles who seem to connect you to a different chat operator every time. the Chinese phone market is booming at the moment-the vowney v5 was pretty much top of the range a month back, and now we have competitors like the I ocean x7 (£120?)...can't wait for the xiaocai and pity the faea f1 has such a tiny battery
Guest The Alpha Gamer Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Just had a thought, do iPhone cases fit iPhone clones perfectly?
Guest dakok Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 (edited) Finally! After Coke OS, Lewa, Miui, MyUI, Lenovo OS and few other OSes, ZTE v987 (the phone I`m still waiting to arrive from China) got Baidu, my favorite rom, today: http://bbs.anzhi.com...657590-1-1.html Edited July 10, 2013 by dakok

Guest kyan31 Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Just had a thought, do iPhone cases fit iPhone clones perfectly? If its by a good manufacturer, for example GooPhone, the measurements of the clone will probably be accurate meaning the cases will fit. You could always match the measurements of the clone iPhone and the real iPhone to check sizes.

Guest The Alpha Gamer Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Anyone know any pink phones better than the Xperia U for about £100 for a mother who mostly just uses it for texting? Must work on 3 UK. Best we've found so far is an Alcatel One Touch Star
Guest JetKun Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 Neo N003 looks amazing, thanks to dakok's spreadsheet

Guest akarana Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 The Chinese rom in that K-Touch is for Wo, the same ISP as most Huawei phones, with the same bunch of apps. There's an xml file to edit to get more "white" languages. Looks nice -except- some reviews say WCDMA 900/2100, others say WCDMA 1900/2100, and some say 2100 only  I definitely need 900. Also the 1600mAh battery is hardly industrial rated
Guest dakok Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) Manufacturer`s website tells: http://www.k-touch.c...tail/prod_id/66 anyway, it`s 900/2100MHz And I don`t think battery`s that bad cause phone got 4.8/5 mark on ZOL.com: http://detail.zol.co...dex345189.shtml I have to correct myself. It got 3/5 on zol.com Major problem is heating while intense gaming and not so nice daily battery usage. :( Edited July 14, 2013 by dakok

Guest Maringer Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Well, I've decided to jump in and have now ordered an FAEA F1. The $20 off voucher from GizChina made the deal too good to pass up and I ordered the F1 earlier this afternoon direct from FAEA. Total cost around £109 including a skin case and the slightly faster registered postage service on offer. It doesn't quite match all my needs to be a perfect phone but, at that price, I'm willing to miss out on one or two things. It will be interesting to see how I get on with a dual-sim device as well. I'll post my views on the phone when it (hopefully!) arrives in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Guest dakok Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Damn UMI S1 http://www.merimobil..._p/meri7424.htm ~£135? Battery: 2500 mAh battery Lithium Ion Battery is 2000mAh, and phone is not really known in China and official UMI website.
Guest dakok Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Baidu OS 4.2 (jellybean) is up for another MTK6589. ZTE v987 got it few days ago, but I skipped another one, announced two weeks ago: Baidu Cloud ROM for UMI X1s http://bbs.91umi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=256478 Besides UMI X1S, UMI X2 is getting it`s first Baidu 4.2 in near future. Here`s a preview of a new Baidu 4.2 camera application that will have a promotion in Baidu ROM34: http://bbs.rom.baidu.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=69715
Guest kieranswhite Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 the battery in my V5 is plenty big enough. i can easily get 1-2 days usage with facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube etc...
Guest aliaird Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Ok, so spent aaages here trying to work out what phone to get, and ended up with a Vowney V5, which is great, (speed and screen and camera are perfect for me in particular) but.. It's just a bit too big (not a huge problem) and the GPS isn't reliable (huge problem for me and no one seems to have cracked it yet) So I have persuaded my daughter to take the Vowney off me as her new phone,so I need one... My spec requirement is 4.7inch ideally, 4.5 at a pinch, 1.2Ghz (ie MT Quadcore speeds) as a minimum. GPS that works!! Must be rootable and preferably with a few ROMs out there for the meddler in me! Battery must be good enough for a good day at least. Dual sim is also v attractive. Obviously cheaper is better than expensive, but I'd rather pay another £30 for the right phone. I was originally looking at the Jiayu G4 before all the delays, so I went with the V5. Any obvious candidates for me over the last couple of months?!?

Guest aliaird Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Thanks Dakok, I'll look at them. Do these come with any seal of approval or experience?
Guest dakok Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) No china seals IMHO. :D All I know is: Amoi N828 is very popular in China - it has above 4/5 scores on numerous china forums. Probably one of top 5 mtk6589 phones. It has quite a few roms, too and support on european phone forums. THL W100 has nice support in Europe, one of best selling (read: cheap) phones. Great support on european forums. Strange - it is not well known in China. Xiaomi M2A - Xiaomi is China`s national pride. It has it`s own android - MIUI which is almost a legendary OS. Type: "MIUI forum" in Google search - you will get fan forums in most of world`s countries. TCL P606 is a newcomer, dont know much about it, but TCL is a quality manufacturer, and their phones are in higher price range Edited July 15, 2013 by dakok
