Lost all user data after upgrade, backup did nothing?

Before upgrading I was asked to back up my settings. However absolutely none of it has been restored now that I have completely the upgrade. I am quite angry.

It's annoying especially having to set up mobile networks again so I can use picture messages.

I can't see any option to restore after having done this "backup".

also how do I get back a keyboard where I can swipe down to get numbers off qwerty etc.

Have you actually tried to restore your data after you completed your "upgrade"??

You upgraded from what to what? And how exactly? Not an awful lot of into in the original post.

If you were asked to do a backup and it failed then it seems the blame here rests with you. I take it you didn't test if the backup worked by trying to restore it?

For data I really can't do without, like call and sms logs, an app database etc, I use two different methods and look for confirmation if success. THEN I take a nandroid backup of the whole setup so I can go back if anything fails. And I'm not known for being thorough.
