Guest cashmerecardi Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 I would use this one, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Huawei-Mobile-Phone-Unlock-Code-inc-Vodafone-858-U8800-U8815-G300-Ascend-more-/111003966612?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19d85a1c94, as they are a top rated seller and they have 99.8% positive feedback. I used saqkh on eBay to unlock my g300 about 2 weeks ago and thought it was a great service.
Guest PixelPixie Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Gsmunlock now have a website http://gsmunlockshop.co.uk/ I've used them to unlock 5 G300's, when they were on ebay. Never had any problems.
Guest Rico_89 Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 TWRP allows you to update to 4.2.2 as well. Didn't you know that? Nope never knew OTA updates for JB would work on TWRP. I've only ever used CWM. @seamie, no need to make a list as all the apps you have ever installed on your phone should be listed in the play store itself. Just open play store, press the menu button, select My Apps then slide to right under the heading "All", and everything you've installed is listed there. Along with the other suggestions I'll add carbon to the list off backup apps. Although I've found that some apps don't like to be recovered, so I've still had to re-download them when trying a new roms. http://www.modaco.com/topic/360850-app-carbon-by-clockworkmod/

Install Carbon on Android a) Root user? You're done! Does it mean that I have to unlock the phone first ?
Guest george109 Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Look at this guide to find out how to root the G300. http://huaweig300.com/how-to-root-the-huawei-g300/
Guest Dellboy2012 Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 After installing cm 10.1 your phone will be sim unlocked
Guest irishpancake Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 After installing cm 10.1 your phone will be sim unlocked  But... not permanent network unlock?? AFAIK.... it does not stick!!
Guest irishpancake Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Also use Settings/backup and reset/... check "backup my data" and "Automatic Restore" Google servers are supposed to know your Apps and Data and should restore after reset. But if you change ROM or device it don't work, in my experience. But it might!!
Guest seamie Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 After installing cm 10.1 your phone will be sim unlocked  Wait a minute - I thought I need to buy unlock code (Ebay) to have it sim unlocked. Can I install cm 10.1 without unlocking the phone ?

Can I install cm 10.1 without unlocking the phone ? Yes ... Unlocking your phone to use any Sim card from Vodafone, BT GiffGaff etc is not required to install any rom.
