If it's a UK Orange phone you can have it running Orange ICS, unrooted of course. I would do a factory reset and wipe of the USB storage as well, just to stop any argument. First my phone rooted by Xolo ics, then I come back Orange ICS with option 2 with orange update.zip in orange folder and orange gingerbead dump in system folder.
