Did I brick G510-0100?

Hello

After the phone rooting, I was "working" on build prop file. [ I uninstalled all Vodafone application, I turned off crescendo ringtone, etc etc]. I made a copy on SD card for this file. Today I realized that I have some problem with SD card when I try to connect the phone to PC. I thought that it was because of my modification, so, I copy the original build.prop [from SD card] over the system one. When I reboot, the phone is stuck on Huawei Logo. The only key combination which is working is volume + volume - power ON for update.

I did not do any copy, recovery, etc. It was original firmware. (:

So, do I still have any chance to put some life in the phone?

Yust download the firmware & flash it!

You are telling me that the recovery volume up + power is not working? That is really strange! If you menage to get in recovery use reset to factory defaults! This shouldn't be happening!

Combination Volume up + power is not working. If I am doing this the phone is starting, it appears Huawei Logo and..stuck.

Should be a case of reinstating the standard build.prop. I broke mine the other day, had to use adb shell to fix it. adb shell is a way to get command line access to Android.

Get your phone to the Huawei logo, and try and get an adb shell (I'm afraid I'm not sure how to do this on Windows. I gather you download the development files from Google).

If adb shell doesn't work, try reflashing the recovery as described in its thread on here, and reattempt adb shell.

Once you've sucessfully got adb shell access reply here and I should be able to help you with the fixing of the build.prop

Done it !

I downloaded G510-0100-V100R001C02B170.rar. I put the update on Sdcard\dload folder. I press Vol + Vol - Power On and Voila !

Stil this shouldn't be happening it's a corruption in the core of system, don't have nothing to do whit bild properties!

I know. It was strange. And strange also that it was not working with factory reset combination key. Anyway, right now evrything is ok.

Hello

After root and unlock bootloader I tried to instal a custom ROM. In reboot I selected some commands about format. The phone did not start to load the custom ROM, but appears Update Firmaware. But even I have original firmare on SD CARD , the answer is UPDATE FAILED [becasue I did not have original firmaware anymore]. If I pressed VOL - POWER I received a blue screen. IF I presses VOL + POWER , again it tries to update firmare. If I take out SDCARD I receve a pink screen. SO, in every combination I am not able to receive HUWEI LOGO or boot menu. Can I do something [maybe form PC, etc]?

644 is the octal value of the file permissions, basically this means they should be set to -rw-r--r-- or read/write, read-only, readonly with the user only having write permission. To change the file permission you'd need to run 'chmod 644 {file name}' to correct the issue - this will need to be done from an adb or root shell.

Does anyone have some ideea? So, as an overview, in all key combination the phone started to update firmware. But even with original one, after unzipping, I received message "update fail" [because i have installed right now a custom rom??!??]

If I removing sd card , i receive blue or pink screen. Should I put something else [a kind of update.app file] in dload folder in order to force the phone to update original firmware?

Tray installing one of so called costume roms based on original firmware & then updating! Remember to use only G510 builds!!!

The phone was in totall mess. Only blue or pink screen. It was in a kind of update firmware loop My laptop does not recognize anymore. Not adb , not fastboot commands, nothing. So, I try to put on sd card original firmware. First update.app with setting for Ro, and, afetr that, update.app with firmware. I was sure that it will not work. Surprise ! It works. Many thanks to frazer_cooper. [without his link about firmware G510-0100 I couldn't do anything]

Same problem but my update failed at second step. First steo unpacking is OK but second step installing FAILD. :(

Pay attention. You have in that rar 3 folders. One with an small update.app for your country. First select this one and put in your dload folder and update with vol + vol - power long press. After that delete from dload folder that update.app and copy the big one update.app which has around 1g. Againg vol + bla bla. Alsi in that rar you have another update.app for root purpose but you do not need it now. Good luck !!!

Hi Guys!

I have also the same problem. On every start my phone goes to firmware upgrade, but there is no text on the screen. i see only the upgrade line. I put the update.app to the sd card but it stays on the quarter of the line. i try many thingd but i don't know what to do. maybe you can help me. thx Peter

Thanks i try everything but i take it back to service. There was no way to bring back to life.

But i must to share what i do wrong.

I installed cyanogen 10.1 experimental, but there was no 3g. Fitst when i rooted the phone i make a 5irim backup becouse the imei. But this phone is not g300. When i wasgoing into phone properties there was no imei, and i think i can restore and i try to restore,but after reboot i wasn't able to reboot the phone. Now i know that i make a mistake.

When there are no network dont try to restore imei.

Hello Radu,

Can you please help me where I can find a fw suitable for my Y300-0100? In one of your previous post you refer to frazer_cooper as the source of your device's fw but I cannot find it anywhere. I have an issue with my Y300, and cannot flash the factory update since it stucks at step 2. You are talking about three folders with different content, but the factory stuff has only a single one file.

I would appreciate your help so hopefully you are still visiting this post.

but we have different phones , so different firmwares. my model is g510-0100. original firmwares are not compatible.
