Guest madu Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 May I just appologise for hijacking the gameboy thread with overclocking stuff (provoked by our MVP) :) Please continue all o/c discussions here: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic...p?p=24629#24629 PS: I will create a copy of DJHope's post about the manual just in case...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 We're getting close to answering the question: Who moderates the moderators? Will :)
Guest zizione Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 DJHope> Are you sure it is an ARM920T ? I thought it was an 720T On the ARM site you can get a CD with all the documentation on the different processors. I ordered one and received it a week after. Here is the link: http://www.arm.com/support/doc_request?OpenDocument
Guest DJHope Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 sorry dude but its definately a 920t, well actually its a 925 but the 925 has a 920t core.
Guest zizione Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 Ok, that would explain why I had problems with coding my graphic routines in asm... I'll give it a try !
Guest crimminsky Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 :) this dosen't work for me, (all previous versions have) I copied the new version into the same directory as my roms but when I load, all I get is the rom select screen with just one rom, when I select that it bombs me out.....any ideas
Guest madu Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 ry deleting the supporting files for the ROM. Ie keep the rom and remove all other files with similar name but different extension
Guest crimminsky Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 nope, still dosent work :) anyother ideas? spacemonkey, can you help?
Guest RCAM Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 Spacemonkey I think if you port http://phoinix.sourceforge.net/ to the Smartphone it would run 10x better. I would but I can not for its not in my companies best interest. Let us know your thoughts. I took a look through the Phoinix code, its well done.
Guest DJHope Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 I already alerted spacemonkey to that one, but yes good idea, far to much Palm ASM (Dragonball?) tho aprently. If anyone is to make GNUBoy run faster we need some arm asm routines :) DJ Hope
Guest mcfc2134 Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 I have downloaded the program onto my computer. How do i go about installing it all to my SPV then running the games? I know it sounds stupid but i'm unsure! Also, do i have to unlock the app signing thing on my phone 1st? Cheers in advance Tim
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 First of all you need to unlock your phone details found here It's best just to try this first then worry about the gameboy emulator after. take your time and you will be ok. :)
Guest crimminsky Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 :) this dosen't work for me, (all previous versions have) I copied the new version into the same directory as my roms but when I load, all I get is the rom select screen with just one rom, when I select that it bombs me out.....any ideas sorted it now.....I had gnuboy6.exe instead of gnuboy.exe
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 sorted it now.....I had gnuboy6.exe instead of gnuboy.exe   Oh yeah... in my dodgy coding I get the current directory by getting the exe file location and knocking 10 characters off it so if you miss name gnuboy.exe to something a different length it won't work.
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 New build 0.93 is up in the usual place. Only modification is saving frame rate and key setup in the state file. This means that it will remember them even on games which don't use the real time clock. :)
Guest fumaras Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Great version spacemonkey :). The saving of frame rate and key setup is very useful ;).
Guest okocha10 Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 wondering if any1 can help, just put the gnuboy.exe in my storage card then created a shortcut into ipsm/windows/start menu, then when i try 2 run it on da fone, all that happens is a white screen appears,i leave it 4 ages and stil nothin happens,i even put a rom into the storage card and tried it but nothin happened?????????????????
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 The white screen is a list of all roms it can find. The rom must be in the same directory as gnuboy.exe and they must end in .gb or .gbc If you have that right, check that on the start menu you have got a shortcut and not a whole copy of gnuboy.exe
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 OK... I've made a couple of minor adjustments... 0.94 is up (see the first post in this topic for the link) The only noticable difference is that the softkey menu labels dissappear while playing the game as someone requested. From here I'm not planning any significant further changes to the system. The only thing I have floating around is some performance changes, but don't expect these soon... For those interested... the central CPU of the gameboy is a Z80. What I have got is some ARM assembler code for emulating the Z80. This code should be quite efficient as it was written originally for a Z80 emulator on the Archimedes machines (which were quite old and slow). I am hoping to plug this in as a replacement for the main cpu engine in GnuBoy but have to address a number of issues to achieve it. Anyway, catcha all later
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 It's funny how such an old chip is still used in so many things, fruit machine most games that play on mame etc.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 And it now works on the DK update as well :) ;) cheers for a job well done.
Guest Grazz Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 yep this one work fine i have had no problems with it nice one space monkey keep up the good work
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 New build (0.95) hopefully better performance... no other changes.
Guest ClintEastman Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Looking good so far! Keep it up!!
Guest agent.m Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 didnt notice much difference but im not complaining :)
