I have a fairly disposable Y300, and I'm thinking of using it to test ROMs and such.

Before I get all reckless, am I right in thinking that, with a backup and recovery, I can recover from any problematic ROM installation?

Any partitions I should avoid wiping and such?

All partitions that you don't know don't delete...

You can't brick the phone with rom bat there is a minor possibility that the touch stops working in recovery & that rom stacks in boot loop. Adb & dload should still be working in that case!

I normally wipe data, cache and dalvik. Sometimes I wipe system, but I'm not sure if this is necessary.

Yea I had this on the G510 when flashing the CM10.1 ROM

Adb & dload should still be working in that case!

i.e. flash a new recovery and all should be golden.

Thanks for the advice, let the reckless flashing commence.

If it would be helpful, as it's not my primary phone (my other Y300 is) I can flash random things people might be too worried to flash. Let me know!
