How to install CWM on Gingerbread (B895)

Just installed B895, All I have done is root it using the root tool on huaweiG300.com

I want to stay on gingerbread, how do I install CWM?

I would use this and send off your official bootloader unlock code.

I don't think you need to unlock the bootloader on gingerbread. The unlock code would only work for ics.

You should be able to root gingerbread and install CWM, follow one of the guides e.g. "like you're 5", just stop before upgrading to ics.

It installed apparently, but I can't get into recovery. it just hangs on the bootlogo..

Are you definitely holding volume up, not volume down?

Edit: oh, it has to be the right version of CWM as well.

Sorted sorry I should have posted here as well, you were right it was only CWM5 that should have been installed. The fastboot command installed the img fine and it worked.
