Guest anything-but Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 Anyone else had probs getting this reporting the location on their Y300? Double checked all settings and just will not play ball.
Guest nirmalbalaji Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 On couple of days ago I tried Android Device Manager and it worked perfectly. I ringed it, tried to wipe and it does what it should be. Just make sure you turned on GPS and have an active internet connection.
Guest vile Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) I expect that 'Android device manager' works like androidlost and similar apps - so if you're having problems getting the phone's location it is probably because there's no current internet connection due to the 3G nag screen on some Huawei phones; For example, if you've been connected to wifi, then disconnect (or fall out of range), the Y300 will prompt you to agree before it connects to 3G/mobile internet, even if you've turned on mobile data and always on mobile data in the settings. Its the pop-up that says "continuing internet access will lead to traffic. Continue?". It won't connect via 3G until you accept the change of connection. You have to root the phone and edit the build.prop file to disable the nag prompt. See: Don't forget the most important one: ro.config.hw_remindWifiToPdp set to false to turn off the warning every time you switch from wifi to mobile data. and The wifi nag box is turned off in the build.prop. There is a line ro.config.hw_remindwifitopdp=true Use a root explorer to open the build.prop and change true to false and save it. Edited August 15, 2013 by vile
