[solved] how to set WCDMA only mode

hopefully this is of help to someone else. I figured it out with the help from this thread

the option is disabled by default in huawei stock based roms, but is available on some other custom ROMS, but as Im using

which is based on stock, the network mode option was not available

to do this you need root, then download BuildProp Editor from the market and scroll down to ro.telephony.default_network and change the value to 2 (ignore the default value field). Restart the phone and ta dah

hope that will save someone a few grey hairs.

Thanks for this very useful solution. Two questions before i try flashing my y300

1. can the build prog thing be used on a rooted y300 that has not been flashed with a mod rom?

cause i'm thinking of just rooting and installing build prog, without flashing custom roms

2. which rom for y300 has the option to select wcdma only? is it available on cm 10.2?
