Guest maritimesbob Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Hello, I'm looking to ditch my HTC One X+ phone, a very expensive white elephant to me. It comes across as dev unfriendly and I feel it's time to get rid of. For what I could possibly get selling it, I could get myself a G510 and have plenty change leftover. I used to have a G300 and loved the phone. It was very friendly with custom roms, unlocking, rooting etc. Which leads me to the G510. I see Vodafone is selling them for £100, the reviews in the internet give the phone good reviews which make this very tempting. Is it worth me buying one? I am just looking for a decent size phone, reasonable specs, a phone that doesn't lag too much and is easy to bootloader unlock, root and install cwm or other recovery. Any issues with the custom roms available? I know on the One X+, non Sense roms suffered poor audio because the correct drivers were unavailable from HTC which was off-putting. I am on O2/GiffGaff so I'll need to have the sim unlocked too. Thanks.
Guest Voxpop2011 Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Mine seems to have been made on a 'Friday afternoon' as it has been nothing but trouble. It has been back to the shop TWICE with software problems. In retrospect, I would never have bought the phone. However, other people here who also have this model really love them. I have the bootloader unlock code, but am reluctant to go any further because I cannot contemplate another return to the shop should anything go wrong.
Guest ZolaIII Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 It's mostly the same story like with G300! There are less ROMs & developers for now bat it's a same community so it's to expect that most of guys & developers will come to this from G300 at list those that were satisfied with G300. & you should reconsider the Y300 for around 70£ it's same soc (CPUs clocked at 1GHz) 4" display just like on old G300 bat bigger battery & better back cover than G510. Bout models file faster with original firmware then G300 with original Ginger. It's a simple phone & it's user friendly! On the other hand its old Huawei & its not particularly user friendly! Luckily this is an old hardware platform that is now well known & only difference between G300 are two CPU cores & some sensors. Hey Voxpop consider calling yours Friday (Robinson Crusoe)! :-) Just root it & clear: data, cash & dalvik cash from recovery or better jet flash one of costume ROMs like for instance some that is based on B196 firmware bat first backup you're original clean one! I am just going to repair one for the friend right now.
Guest robespain Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 voxpox2011. You can always relock the botloader, try to see if you find your rom. If there is phisical damage, fix it under warrinty. If everything goes well, go on and root it. Have been trying CM10 cr 4 and it works quite well.
