Recommend me a rom

Hello folks,

 

My wife has a Y300 for the last month or so but she's a bit grumpy over it's sluggishness. It is stock 4.1.1, not rooted as yet. I have offered to unlock and root her phone, so we're waiting on Huawei for the unlock code.

 

She's not bothered about fancy options or extras, she just wants her phone smoother running and probabl better off on a non-Hauwei rom?

 

I don't want her complaining about FC's, the phone rebooting, crashes etc. Can some recommend me a nice smooth rom that is stable and crash free? She doesn't need the latest and greatest just something better than the stock rom.

 

Sorry for posting such a thread, I know it gets asked all the time but there are dozens of roms and it's not for me, I just need a pointer.

FusionX B8 or CM10 R11... 

 

CM10 is... well it's CyanogenMOD XD it's extremely smooth and quick, but has a little tiny bit of battery drain.

 

But since fusionX is built on stock, it's totally solid and very quick too, but has no battery drain... infact, it's the best i've had for battery and second best for speed (after CM10 R11)

Tillaz devs the Fusion rom? I remember that name from my old g300.

 

Any idea how long they take to send out an unlock code? Says three days but......!!

Based on a few posts on here and my own experience I'd say you should get a response in a day or so. I'd also say its quite likely the response will say the info is wrong despite it being 100% correct.

I ended up using DC unlock to generate my own code

Thanks, got the code in my mailbox this morning.

 

General consensus, FusionX or CM10 R11 is a good stable daily driver?

 

Just don't want the wife nagging me after it's done!

Go for fusionX because that has no issue's and is fast and stable. In CM10 R11 you may not simple bugs 'cause that's not stable yet. It hasn't fully working H/W acceleration atm if i remember correctly means you will feel annoying when it comes to games and video playing.

I am sure your wife will completely satisfy if she's not someone who needs to be in cutting edge.

I'd agree with that. Definitely the best stock based rom at the moment.

Install a decent launcher and use an uninstaller to get rid of any apps you don't need.

I would like to recommend infinity rom .. because it´s also stock based stable rom and has the best battery life i ever seen ...

Definitely go for a B199-based rom - battery life is significantly improved over earlier stock based roms. There isn't much between the roms themselves, although as a rule, the more added bits, the more likely there is to be bugs.
