Guest stevesy Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I have a Huawei Y300 (purchased around New Year) from Carphone Warehouse. I have run through the unlocking and rooting procedure at the tumblr page but now I need some help getting the right ROM to install on my phone with TWRP. Really, all I wanted from rooting was to be able to uninstall all the bloatware on the phone and to get the app drawer back. My main struggle is that my phone lists as B192 and it looks like there's no ROMs for it! Do I need to update the firmware to B199? Will any ROMs for firmware pre-B192 work fine? If so I can just go grab one from the list. Will ROMs for Android greater than 4.1.1 work fine on my B192? Or do I need to stick with 4.1.1? Many thanks!
Guest SH3H1 Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 The build no. (eg: B192) means nothing to flash a ROM (atleast nothing to do with our phone :P ) I think you mean there are tags [b199] thatis just Base ROM ;) No problem with compatibility What i had in when my phone was in my hand first was B165 (you may never heard of it :D ) You can play with any ROM in here without fear ;) I tried almost all nice ROMs and had no problem with build no. :P You can have any ROM( 4.1.1 and higher ) So nothing to care about ;) Just a note as you followed the tumblr post you will probably have TWRP 2.5.0.1 or something (old :P ) So upgrade it to latest ;) Happy flashing And welcome to the forum , we're here to help you ;)
Guest stevesy Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Thanks so much! Will crack on with grabbing a ROM for it tonight!
Guest SH3H1 Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 You are welcome :) Note: If you are a heavy gamer or something go stick with stock based ROMs (eg FusionX -my favorite)
