Guest AstronomerDaz Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Hi all Am I correct in thinking that I need to (somehow) modify the wpa_supplicant file to allow the hudl to see ad-hoc networks? I am about to start playing with ubuntu and rkkitchen to see if I can unpack the ROM.... Very much unknown territory!! Thanks Daz
Guest greyrider Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 No idea, would this help? http://www.fonearena.com/blog/88249/how-to-setup-an-ad-hoc-wifi-network-on-your-laptop-for-any-android-phone-without-root.html
Guest AstronomerDaz Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Nope. The ad-hoc I want to connect to is not a PC based one.
Guest Frederick_99 Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 am i right im guessing you want to join a wifi hotspot from an apple iphone ? I have a 3GS which will broadcast wifi on hotspot but for the life of me I cant get the hudl to see the network broadcast...laptop, net book etc see it fine ??
Guest AstronomerDaz Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 No. I have a telescope that has the ability to be controlled by a app on the Hudl. I tap an object and the telescope moves to the right part of the sky. The gadget that connects to the telescope produces an ad-hoc network, and this is what I need to connect to.
Guest Frederick_99 Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 sounds interesting...hope you get it to work.........!!!!
Guest greyrider Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) OK, while I appreciate it's become a cliche, but is there an app for this? I tried the store with "ad hoc connection" and got a few interesting results with no need to alter the WiFi supplicant - although you may need to be rooted ;-) Any chance your device could use Bluetooth?
