Guest Lanyu Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Hi I'm new to this forum first post yesterday when I was able to unlock the bootloader I can now go into recovery Vol+ & Power and I see the droid open waiting for surgery! I used this link: http://huaweinews.com/2014/01/root-huawei-g510/ as the next step and download the file to get the root package is this correct? When I booted into recovery after adding the file UPDATE.APP I had a list of options do I choose "apply update from ADB" ? I'm hoping to eventually use Kit Kat 4.4.2 is this the right step above with that in mind? Does applying ADB allow me to then put CWM recovery on I'm confused now? or do I just put CWM recovery straight on? Thanks and sorry as I guess you get this all the time. Please help someone Edited March 5, 2014 by Lanyu

Guest mockingbird Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Managed to solve it. No I'm trying to install TWRP recovery via fastboot and it says "disc image is corrupted" when I click it in windows wht am I to do?Try downloading the img again and put it in the same folder with adb. Then try to flash it.....Or the easier way is to flash the zip file with TWRP via CWM. No ideea why you flashed cwm in the first place... Edited March 5, 2014 by mockingbird
Guest Lanyu Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Thanks for coming back to me mockingbird appreciated to be honest I don't even think I did flash CWM it looks like all the time I put in yesterday and today I was getting stuck on parts of the boot loader and rooting. I finally only rooted it this afternoon as I saw it do the install and can see it installed superuser. You've confused me now though as I thought you only need one or the other back up recovery programs TWRP or CWM
Guest mockingbird Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 You need only one of them , TWRP , you can forget about CWM. What I was saying is that, you can change from CWM to TWRP, by flashing the zip file with the img inside in your current recovery. (exeption being stock)
Guest Lanyu Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Am I right in thinking the following Recovery is where you place the file onto you external micro SD card and flash it via the interface that you use the Vol - & + and pwr button Fastboot you use windows and command prompt?
Guest Lanyu Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 Thanks mockingbird its all done. You have been a great help. I also decided to download those Google apps and installed them and all is well. however its given me hangouts for SMS and I can't get my head around it how do it get the original SMS service? The others thing is on the task bar where you drag box down with all the settings how do you get it to show your Google photo when I touch it it tries to open a page fails and it just goes to home screen
