How does official 021 version relate to our phones, which show build number 4.2.015.P0.140321.8297W, Custom build version 62. unless it is .015. which would make us 6 versions out of date.

well, i'm not sure about this, since chinese for me is... chinese  :D  But maybe the image I posted before was a port of the TDCMA version for the WCDMA device, since I noticed it lacks the "W" on the build number, but the phone is indeed a 8297W, so I assume it's a port. I'll have to investigate to make things clearer, but right now one thing is for sure... updating before root/CWM will give a hard time rooting the device!

Thanks for the link, thought I would have a go at TWRP, can I just put this on the sd card and then use Mobileuncle to install it?

It seems that the author is saying after installing his TWRP you can do OTA updates?

Please write the warning note about loosing root in the first post - with bold letters.

 

Regarding TWRP - I didn't look into it yet, just collecting useful info and links...

It would be good to have all that stuff in the first post :)

 

I found the 075 version info. It is actually transplanted from the official 075 build for TD-SCDMA phone version. Almost a clean one except for the root (it has root) and removed third party apps. It is a very fresh one, so it would be good to wait for few days more before flashing (and checking reactions at ydss website)

well, actually this rom (or maybe port, as also google translate seems to confirm) seems already rooted and with superSU, since I don't have (yet) the mobile (will arrive in a couple of days) I don't know if it's for CWM/TWRP or Flash Tool, I'm not registed and I can't verify. I also have some doubts on the languages on it (it could easily be only the Chinese/English) You could see it for yourself following the link here:

Just a comment - as an experienced flasher of china roms :D I bet on several things:

 

It is a usual flashing format (no word about "wire brush" there - so it goes thru cwm or twrp)

99.9% china roms have china/english UI - this one is no exception

 

Root and set CWM on your phone and make a CWM backup first - then you can try this one :)

One more warning!

After going thru several China mobile portals with Coolpad F1 topic, I can confirm that:

Flashing or OTA upgrading to official 021 rom version results in losing root.

You won't be able to re-root it in any simple way for the time being.

So be patient and do not upgrade to v. 021!

First thing to do is install CWM thru Mobile Uncle and make a CWM / nandroid backup of your original rom!

Then you can try at least ten custom roms, AOSP from Jonzalvo is a recommended one.

I have something to ask you: since you are familiar with chinese roms, if you try/have infos on some of them, could you let us know if there are some multilanguage ones and/or if there are roms with proper memory repartition (since all the roms except the stock one have that memory issue.Thank you in advance! :)

P.s: what can you tell me about OTG guys? It was listed as compatible when the device came out, but I never heard anyone speaking about it.

yup, that's what i was afraid of... :( have you found a way to undo the ota update maybe? ;) just being optimistic here. 

 

anyway, those drivers you found were the same as the ones on the phone, no?

 

trying to SPAM gms package though i have tried the procedure before and the phone did not recognize the package on the phone. don't know, will report back later.

I found out that there were several patches presented for fixing this root issue, but none of them seems to actually work.

Good news is that even TDSCDMA release (I think v 072) suffers from the same glitch and Coolpad is trying to solve this.

 

At present, the only solution is "wire flash" meaning the use of Flashtool and installing original factory 015 release. 

 

There is a guide by Jonzalvo for this procedure at those spanish forums, but I would advise to wait a little bit more since the chinese 

Coolpad F1 user community is realy huge and I am sure there will be an easier solution there soon.

As I can remember, Google services patch goes inside the specific directory path on SD card - did you read the guide?

 

For divers being same as those in phone - dunno that yet. Customs office stuff might know better. :D

Second question, in Chinese site there are two MIUI new versions, one from Lbxb and another one in two completely different posts. In the Lbxb version said that he updated the firmwares of camera, audio and kernel in the latest 075 firmware. Does that means that I will lose my root or thats completely different thing and only in 021 OTA official upgrade weare loosing ROOT?

 

Finally, in the 075 Rooted link you have in link, they say that the have improved the Camera (which in AOSP version is good) does anyone tried it?!

@pletko If I was you I would try to install the first version of the phone (the ubrick solution) which hopefully revert your phone to the first version with Root priviledges, but as said before wait a little, it will be a solution for you soon if you are not familiar with this method (neither do I)!

Move the zip package into the root directory of phone memory /storage/emulated/0

 

 

Then it should show up in phone developer options as "GMS package already installed" or something like that and then activated

yeah, i can see it in file explorer and as a package in the chinese file explorer but when i go to settings>developer options>gms package install i only get a toast message saying that gms package is not found and i should put it in /mnt/sdcard.

 

in theory the tutorial works fine. in practice... not so much :(

Translation:

there is a difference in pahts between android 4.1 and 4.2

You can't flash a file or find there if using 4.1.2 recovery for 4.2 rom

... I found out that you have to press "0" three times to find file for flashing

 

P.S.Did you try with changing file name? Tutorial says "presetgms-Coolpad 8297W.zip" and downloaded file name is "Coolpad 8297W GMS.zip"

Hi Johnickz / Giannis!

 

075 is a new official version for the Coolpad F1 that is for chinese 3G network (known as TD-SCDMA)

 

A chinese dev "transplated" it to our WCDMA version. As he says it has root and it has few Chinese 3rd party apps removed.

It can be installed by flashing thru CWM

 

I would wait for newer MIUI versions since present ones are a bit buggy (i've been reading about it).

how would i go about flashing a stock version? since this piece of crap seems to leave me no choice, i am willing to try flashing but it would be nice if i had a tutorial in english instead of google-translated chinese
