help needed guys, stuck with Chinese apps I cannot read and no cwm and a green man with a red !, I do have root though, keeps asking me to update to v21, if I want to keep the rom but just install google and cwm what is my way forward....

Has Android (CoolLife OS) loaded up, or is it stuck in some kind of a recovery? If it is in Android, you should be able to change language to English (I think pretty much all ROMs have English). Go via settings (usually a cog-icon?) and look for an option there. Standard Android language options are found under an icon with a capital "A". No idea if this is the case with CoolLife, however!

If it is in a chinese recovery/bootloader, perhaps there is an option not to update to 021 and boot into 015?

cheers had already changed to English, but all the apps open in Chinese, even RE explorer files are in English but when you go to change properties etc it is in Chinese.

update to 020 comes up every hour or when you switch on or off......

only recovery I have is the standard android system recovery, but I have the android man with a red exclamation mark on it, install gapps from here aborts

guess I am going to have to get a rom from needrom with cwm and root and google on.......unless somebody can suggest how to get them on this rom

read somewhere around 6th page in this topic, the file preload-coolpad8297w or something like that has to go into the root of your phone (/emulated/0 or something) AND into sdcard folder

 

then you just flash some sort of preloaded update... i don't remember what's it called...

Just flashed that emjot / tiger multilanguage MIUI and it has croatian. Nice :)

Still haven't got micro SIM, and can't test 3G for now.

Rom looks good for the time being.

as you can see from my commments, no. i haven't managed to fix my phone. though my phone isn't bricked to begin with. it works, just not in the way i want it to

He can't get root. You need root access to install CWM, even using Mobile Uncle. That's the main issue, in fact - the OTA update to 021 permanently removes the ability to root the phone.

 

Hmmm. I presume that the stock Chinese recovery doesn't allow the installation of third party ROMs?

Probably try another version of SPFlash, maybe newer that supports MTK6592. Downloading agent does not want to work with this phone. For example here someone uses SP Flash Tool 5.1348, or try newest one from the link that I've posted before. Remember to untick preloader and rom - install recovery only, make nandroid backup and then it is up to you.

managed to get cwm back via mobile uncle so back to working phone, want to try update rom again via flash tool, can I just change the recovery image in the rom for the cwm recovery image and then I should have cwm installed when reboots??

find some heavy gauge USB cable and try another USB slot on PC side

1. You managed to get CWM via MobileUncle.

2. You want to have CWM via Flash Tool now

1)Had already saved a cwm backup from previous rom, installed rom (no google and all Chinese apps) via flashtool which removed cwm, downloaded cwm/mobile uncle from needrom, installed cwm which allowed me to go back to original rom.

2) want to flash the rom again but it does not have cwm inside, so can I just change the original recovery img in the rom with the cwm recovery img, before flashing the rom.

Yes managed the flash tool procedure it took a long time though as the drivers would not load properly,still not sure how but it suddenly started to work....
