Guest dalyer
Er, you haven't what goes wrong - e.g. what error(s) etc.?! If Windows 8 is the problem (not sure) then you could always try a live Linux CD and use the Linux approach? http://www.modaco.com/topic/353386-how-to-root-your-huawei-ascend-g300-for-windows-mac-and-linux/

I have tried the first one on a slow-ass xp laptop (40gb HDD and 1 GB of ram, baby!) to no avail
Guest dalyer
whike the one on this website opens then closes very quickly so I'm not sure really what happens. Don't run it from Windows Explorer. Open a command shell (Windows Key + R and then enter cmd.exe), cd (change dir) to the folder containing the utility and run it interactively so you can see the output. Guest dalyer
Try a different USB port? Seems to have done the trick here anyway... http://www.modaco.com/topic/353386-how-to-root-your-huawei-ascend-g300-for-windows-mac-and-linux/page-16#entry2122593

Guest dalyer
I used the huaweig300 method with the other usb port (usb 2, not 3, on the back of my pc) and result!!! Thanks dalyer :D Great! Glad it helped. :D But if you're also unlocking the bootloader don't do it the huaweig300.com way - use the tutorial or DC unlocker to do an official unlock to avoid 3G reboots and maybe other problems...
