Clueless and trying to mod

I'm hoping somebody can help, but I know this is an old, uninteresting phone. But I'm trying to squeeze a bit more life out of it.

 

I have an e400b. It has v12a firmware, which is unique to Canada as I understand it. I want to use CM9 with SDMerge400. I've successfully installed everything, but the phone capabilities wouldn't work. The baseband was unknown and the IMEI was blank. Otherwise, everything went splendidly.

 

My question is if/how I can work around it. Is it possible to work around it? Can the ROM be edited somehow to work with my device?

 

If not, would it be possible to flash different stock firmware to make it compatible with the ROM? What would I need to do that?
