Guest mega-samu Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) That is F2FS? F2FS (Flash-Friendly File System) is a system of files created by Kim Jaegeuk in Samsung for the kernel of the operating system Linux. As NTFS it is for Windows, the system of files EXT4 is the used one for the most part in distributions Linux and also in Android. Which is his intention? The intention to develop F2FS was to construct a system of files that from the beginning bore in mind the characteristics of the flash memories NAND that incorporate many devices of storage like discs of solid state SSDs, cards SD or MMC, etc., used assiduous in different systems of information / communication, from servants to mobile terminuses. Because I think that serious interesting for G510/Y300? Fodder that serious good for our G510/Y300, since conseguiriamos a better performance. Supposedly the function joins the kernel and TWRP, for what I dress in other devices as the Nexus 7 and Nexus 5. Now the question for you: serious possible to have it in our G510/Y300? Sorry, my bad english. :( Edited July 20, 2014 by mega-samu
Guest SaurabhRCk Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 I think luca020400 is working on liquid smooth rom and that rom has f2fs support! http://liquidsmooth.net/?p=160
Guest luca020400 Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Pratically all the rom have this feature but we need a kernel and recovery that support f2fs Edited July 20, 2014 by luca020400
Guest ZolaIII Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Not so good idea. No one I know will like to repartition complete internal nand. F2FS is not really mature yet & performance metrics are not ideal. If you are really interested in Linux fs performance benchmarks you can find them on almost regular bases at Phoronix website... real problem related to hi IO is in old still used rq system bat that will change soon, their are two alternatives included since 3.13 bat they are not set as default options. This one is in particularly interesting:http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTcyMjk Bat its way to complicated for us to use on this SoC. Edited July 20, 2014 by ZolaIII
Guest ZolaIII Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 So the f2fs is usless ?? It's not useless it just is not mature yet but Samsung will continue improving it. To be useful for us (android users) it needs to become broadly adapted standard. It's complicated to repartition complex partition table that we have on a phone & it's something you have to do by you're self so this ain't gonna be added.
