Guest moneyvirus Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 If i do a complete clean install do i have to do the above steps? Or is it working out of the box with your Ls ROM and this kernel?
Guest Ben36 Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 The word from the testers is that it's the best yet. If you want to compete with your wife, do it in penis size, that way you'll always win. ;) Well let's hope he wins for his own sake!
Guest Sipi1302 Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) I'm using 01.08 version of mourtas kernel on my stock rom and it's great. So is it possible to make latest version for stock as well. Thanks. Edited August 15, 2014 by Sipi1302
Guest daniel.mota Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Is it enough for you more or less 4h of screen on time browsing the net, playing music, sending messages and making calls, without playing games? And a deep sleep which prevent any single partial wakelock, saving every mV of your juice when there's no need to lose it? If not, well, try another phone, mate ;) Of course, if you are used to have mobile data on all the time, you'll have a bigger battery drain with each kernel, no one can make miracles with a tegra3 chipset :) That really sounds great, but I don't think I ever had more than 2h30 screen on time. But the fact is that I sometimes play games (not everyday). Plus, I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gpo.greenpower2&hl=pt_PT to automatically manage my connections (wi-fi and mobile data), and that obviously consumes some energy, at least during the daytime (and partially prevents deep sleep). Guest Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Please give me one more information: Many of you shared already their setting for governor, scheduler and SD-Card. But I would like to know, what settings you use for GPU-Rendering? If I don´t check that option in developer options, scrolling in many Apps is really not smooth! If I set this option, I think GPU is allways used and will drain more battery, but scrolling is much more smooth. Same for me with governor, with conservative scrolling is smoother than with all the other governors (but may be more drain of battery than with recommended absyplugV2). I like a smooth phone, may be it´s more important for me than better Screen On Time, but I´m searching for best setting for all needs, battery friendly and fast and smooth...
Guest tool_king Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 The 20140812 kernel is really doing a good job. The phone runs smooth, stays cool and I reached 3,5 hours screen on time right away, with having unplugged the device right after having charged to 100%. So, thanks to Mourta and his testing crew! :)

Guest fozland Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 I rewrote Abyssplugv2 as well as the interface and core powersave to accomplish one thing, ONE coherent interface. So the settings i recommend and use (as do the testers) are: CPU governor: AbyssplugV2 CPUquiet governor: balanced Sheduler: ROW TCP congestion: westwood+ Undervolting and overclocking is something i cannot recommend since it depends on your version and you'll have to test it yourself. It should be noted that abyssplugv2 uses a whole new interface to cpufreq which makes quite a bit of difference. As i fixed the problem where the governor is set only for the first core it now governs all cores right from whatever util you use. There are two options for the future, removing cpuquiet completely or updating it to a new version, i don't want to mess too much with iodaks work because it's very well done so we'll see which way i go with that, you can be assured that what is presented is well tested and found to be the best possible. The latest 12/8 works fine here, but i can't set TCP congestion to westwood+ as it doesn't show up in the possible choices in kernel tweaker ans Triscker mod as well. I only get cubic, reno or westwood... May be i've done something wrong..... BTW thanks to all for ur job and supporting our device ;-)

Guest creedence Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) It should work on all ROM's, i'm not aware of anything in omnirom that would make it freeze up. Wait... crap, did you have abyssplug set as the default governor in Omni? if so you will have to reflash the old kernel, change that to anything but abyssplug and then change it to abyssplugv2 (if you want to use that, and you do want to use that, trust me on this)... I forgot i made an incompatible switch in the new kernel and didn't remove the option for abyssplug until i compiled the new testing version. But... just flash one of the older kernels, go into whatever in omni and change it to ondemand, reboot, install kernel and change it to abyssplugv2. I forgot that i made abyssplug (the original) defunct with this update, sorry about that. Thank you for your effort and for your response. I have disabled trickster mod.---Omni performance control set: ondemand,row.balanced---recovery---flash kernel---reboot---no freeze more---trickster mod enabled---Settings inherited from omni---reboot---trickster mod change settings:westwood,abyssplugv2,row,balanced---reboot---enjoy(the values were taken) Edited August 15, 2014 by creedence
Guest Gerard Szulc Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Thx @Mourta i am surprised how good is new kernel. And sorry for few wordfights at xda before. Now i see what you meant you are in linux development in 20 yrs:p I must say i am on art now and kernel set as you said and it doesnt lost any percent of battery during night.(AWESOME) Now Offtop: maybe it can be helpful to someone, art gives me some problems i think. such as chrome beta lagging as hell and when enabling mobile data phone is unresponsive few minutes. When i was on dalvik there wasnt such things.
Guest Sipi1302 Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Mourta please make this awesome kernel to work with LG stock rom. Thx for contributing to make our phone better. Edited August 15, 2014 by Sipi1302
Guest tool_king Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Mourta please make this awesome kernel to work with LG stock rom. The for contributing to make our phone better. Is there really one single reason left to stay with stock ROM?
Guest Sipi1302 Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Probably not but for now is only option for me because Internet is really bad her so I can use for now only stock rom
Guest Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 If you want something like a jack of all trades device, you should consider buying a new device, mate! ;) If done that 4 months ago (using Note 3 as daily driver now), but I asked other users for their settings of GPU-Rendering or settings which make their phones smooth (I read allways in this thread how smooth and fast it would be, but mine isn´t really smooth and fast with liquid rom and this kernel),asked if other people using these options or not. I would rather like to get an aswer but such "clever tipps"...
Guest Marek Wasik Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Really? Note 3? Comparing to our LG 4x? I use GPU force rendering + settings for CPU as mentioned earlier. I love my phone now, but I'm not a fanatic. It is really smooth and fast.
Guest Giuseppe Vallone Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 No gpu rendering enabled here, and phone was smooth though, with the last kernel version you're running..there were some lags with more than four apps opened and running in background..now, I can say that it's smoother than before, and I'm facing no more lags 'cause I'm running a new preview kernel release which will be available for you in some days, if everything goes well in this testing phase..there are some new commits implemented in the version I'm running which allow a better relationship between software and hardware events, producing a snappier and faster use experience and a better battery life..So, please, be patient and you'll have some improvements in the near future

Guest creedence Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 With the quickness have no problems. It is fast, actually damn fast. The must be a little softer. At present it is not as soft as butter. It's still a great work. Thanks! [emoji106]
